catching in the towel was hanged by tho

at Marshalltown, Illinois, which had been

the small pox, and as a consequence has
gone to his reward.

got himself into difficulty, by attempting to

IS?" A man named Solomon Woodring,
of Grovcport, Ohio, has just married his
fourth wife out of tho same family, she
being a sister of the three former wives,
He is sixty-seven and his wife, is forty-seven
year old ; and it was a runaway match at
that.
tW William Kelly has just been par
doned out of tho Ohio state prison, upon the
belief that ho wbb innocent of the crime for
which a life time sentence was passed upon
hini. He has been imprisoned twelve years,
nd the state settles the obligation to him
by giving him a pardon and suit of clothes
tW An old man named Lydle ninety
years of age, was burned to death at Dour-
bon, Marshall county, Ind., last week. The
house took fire about midnight, and while
the rest of the family escaped be refused to
do so, and next morning only a few bones
were found. It is said that he fired the
bouse himself and committed suicide in
that manner.
tW At Berea Ohio, an infornal machine,
in the shape of an iron box containing now
der with percussion so arranged that the
least tap from a hard substance would ex
plode the concern, was found upon the
mautlepiece of a respectable family of that
place. The family have not the least idea
how the machine came there nor for what
purpose. N
t3T"On the road between Meriden and
Hartford there is a saloon where decoctions
of benzine are passed overa rickety bar, at
the small price of fivo cents. Directly op
posite is a country graveyard where the
country for a few miles around bury their
dead. The hostess of she saloon has an
unfeeling sign on the door as follows
"Key to the cemetery gate within." .

recent census, have over 10,000 inhabitants,

list with twenty-one, the greatest number

sixteen ; Massachusetts, fifteen; Oliio.olov-
en, and so on. Florida, Nevada and
Oregan are without a single city of 10,000
inhabitants.
