Swearing Allowed. Persons who

careful how they pmotice it in Newport, as

paid the Hue and was discharged. In a

Newport a model of morality, as 'having
commenced the enforcement of fhls act they
must coutiuuo it, or the arrest of the sher

spite than from a regard to the law. : '

Washington, show that 132,000 acres of
land have been located in Mumbolt and Au

an advance of 100 per cent in one years time.

The new reformed church nt Ickeshurg
was dedicated to tho worship of the Triune
God, on Sunday, the 10th lust. The servi
ces preparatory to tho dedication were held
in the Presbyterian church on the Friday
evening preceding. Rev. Hamilton, of tho
Presbyterian church, preached the opening
sermon. Rev. C. II. Lcinbach, of Berks
county, officiated on Saturday morning,
and Rev. T. F. MofTmeier on Saturday
evening. The congregations on these sev
eral occasions were largo and attentive.
The service! connected with the dedication
proper were held in tho Reformed church
on Sunday morning. Rev. J. O. Miller of
York, preached the dedicatory sermon and
officiated in tho consecratory services. Rev.
C. II. Lcinbach also delivered a short ad
diess in German. Before the church was
dedicated the pastor stated that thero was
an indebtedness of at least $1,100 on the
chinch. Subscriptions were taken and
$1,200 subscribed. On Sunday evening
Rev. Jas. Crawford preached, aftor which
the Holy communion was celebrated. The
services closed with an exhortation from the
riastor, Rev. B. E. Herring.
The building is a neat and substantial
wooden structure, 41 by CO feet, and 18 feet
in the coiling. The architectural design
displays much taste on the part of tboso
who conceived tho plan. The audience
chamber is large enough to accommodate
about three hundred iersons. There is a
neat recess pulpit and a gallery for tho
choir. The cupola contains a largo bell of
very fine tone and gives satisfaction to all.
Tho pastor of the church, Rev. 8. E.
Herring, should fuel much encouraged at
this happy consummation of a most difficult
enterprise. Perseverance can do a groat
Ideal. Tho membership at Ickeshurg is a
I Vol king one and (hat fact is exemplified in
the beautiful church they have just elected.
There is a great work before them. We
wish them much success.

U lunch near Islam, held under the sujier
intendance of Rev. 8. W. Soibcrt, and Rev.
R. Bowcrsox. The altor is nightly lined
with pendants, sueing for salvation. The
deepest solemnity and religious inquiry
seems to nrevado the entire neighborhood.
On last Sabbath the Sacrameut of the Ijords

communicants aud eighteen were received
into Church fellowship.
