Belvidero & Dclarwaro Railroad Company,
at their shops In Pbillipsburg, has made
the discovery of a now coupling for cars,
which railroad men say is entirely different
from anything they have ever seen in use,
and which may supersede tho old method.
It is simple in construction and easily ap

urday night by knocking her down, jump
ing upon her, and breaking her back, and
then throwing her over a fence. Ho has
been committed to White Plains jail on
charge of murder. The woman died on

killed by a guu in East Brook Held on the
evening of 25th ult. In' company with
three others he went about four miles from
the village on a coon hunt, and having ar
rived In the field where they proposed to
leave their teams, Warren went to the
rear of the wagon, and taking a gun by the
tr.uzzlo drew it toward him, when the liam
mer caught ami the charge was lodged
in his side. Ho died in about fifteen inin.

tSf Mrs. Ryder, of Norwalk, Conn.,
who was accused of perpetrating an abor
tion on the person of a Mrs. Stone, of the
same place, baa been acquitted by a jury,
there having been no positive testimony to
prove her guilt. The prosecution rested
upon what was claimed to' be the dying
declarations of Mrs. Stone.1 Mr.' Ryder's
counsel objected to the Introduction of the
declarations as testimony, and the Judge
sustained the objection
