FARM AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS We Invllr. commvnloattonifromall prrnnworhonre interenteil tnmaUera projierly belonging to this deixtrtmcnt. rcrpctnanVcnllicr Tabic. It U quito possiblo that tho study of tho following weather table, may bo of much benefit to farmers aud others, if they only follow tho admonitions. It was constructed by tho celebrated Dr. Hershell, upon a philosophic considera tion of the attraction of the sun and moon. It is confirmed by tho experience of many years' observation, and will sug gest to tho observer what kind of weath er will probably follow tho moon's en trance into any of her quarters. As a gcucral rule it will be found wonderfully corre'et : If tho moon changes at 12 o'clock, noon tho weather immediately afterward will bo very rainy, if in summer, and there will be snow or rain, if in winter. ' If botween 3 and -4 o'clock,p.m., change able in summer fair and mild in winter. Uetween 4 and 5 o'clock, fair, both iu winter and summer. Uetwccn 9 and 10 o'clock, p. in., in summer, fair, if tho wind is northwest; rainy, if south or southwest. In winter, fair and frosty, if tho wind is from tho couth or southwest. Between 10 and 12 o'clock, p. ni., rainy iu suinmor and fair and frosty in winter. Between 10 at night and 2 o'clock, a. m., fair in summer and frosty in winter unless tho wind is from tho south or southeast. Between 2 and 4 o'clock, a. m., cold and very showery iu summer, aud snow and storm' in winter. Between 4 and C o'clock, a. ui., rainy, both in summer and winter. Between 0 and 8 o'clock, a. ni., show cry in summer aud cold iu winter. Between 10 and 12 o'clock, a. m., showery in Buinmer, and cold and windy in winter. Linseed Tea For Horses. Linseed tea is not only a valuable re storative for sick horses, but it is exceed ingly useful in cases of inflammation of the membranes peculiar to tho organs of respiration and digestion ; it shields and lubricates tho same; tranquilizes tho ir ritable stato of tho parts, and favors healthy action. Wo have prescribed linseed tea in largo quantities, during the past month, for horses laboring under the prevailing influenza ; they seem to de prive much benefit from it, and generally drank it with avidity. Aside from the benefit wo deprive from tho action of mucilago and oil, which the seed contains its nutritive elements oro of some account especially when given to tho animals la boring under soreness in tho organs of deglutition, which incapacitates from swallowing more solid food. In the event of an animal becoming prostrated by inability to masticate or swallow more food, linseed tea may be resorted to, and in case of irritable cough? the addition of a little honey makes it still more useful. To prepare linseed tea, put a couplo of handfuls of the seed into a bucket, and pour a gallon and a half of boiling water upon it. Cover it up a short time, then add a couplo of quarts of cold water, when it will be fit for uso. Legal Weights.
