Fancy Stock. —l ids morning, at Her, nebs’fl Bazaar, Ninth fend Sausom streets, a Jnrco crowd assembled, the occasion being tlve sale of the Alderney cattle and hther tancy stock mentioned in the Bulletin of yester day. The assemblage was Composed of gen tlemen farmers, stock-breeders,' drovers, dairymen and others. At an early hour the parties enumerated, commenced pouring into the building for the purpose of viewing the stock, and when the hour appointed for the sale (10 o’clock) came around, the various merits and. demerits, perfections and imperfections of the "had- been thoroughly discussed. In order to properly display the cattle, a stand about three feet in. height was erected at the N. W. corner of tbe Bazaar, and at the hour above named a two year old cow, of beautiful symmetry, named ‘‘ Vesper,” was placed thereon, and air. Hcrk ness, after explaining her points, called for a hid, receiving ns start $2OO. She was finally knocked down at $320 to G. Dawson Coleman, Of Lebanon, Pa. The officers .vent in the direction from which the cry came, and observed a man named James McLinden Tunning. He was pursued and turned into an alley leading into his house. Pollcetnan Day went after him. McLinden fired two shots at the officer, and then closed the gate. Day mounted the fence, when two more shots were fired at him.. Hi jumped quickly into the yard, struck McLin *den -with a black-jack and knocked him down McLinden was then secured, but the pistol had been thrown away. One of the Bhots fired in the alley took effect in the shoulder ol James Collins, who is a friend of McLinden, and was following the officer to see what was the matter. His wound is painful, but not dangerous. Tbe prisoner was taken before Alderman Shoemaker, and was held in S'!,000 hail to answer at Court. Sekious Assaui.t —.John Schimpf was be fore Alderman Heims', this morning, upon the charge of assault and battery on Charles Lin shrman and John Cl. Gransmeck. The parties, it appears, are occupying portions of two uii finished houses on Hackley street, east of Fifth, i'esterday Linserman, who lives iu the third story of one of tbe houses, attempted to eater, when he was opposed by Schimpf. who locked the door. Linserman took hi revenge by stoning the premises. He finalh succetded'iu effecting an entranco, when lie was attacked by Schimpf, Who had a club iu his hand, and was so badly beaten that he re rnained insensible throughout the entire nigle Gram-meek interfered to save Linserman, an tried to r" 1 '! him out of the house. Edward Myers, arrested at Twentieth and Morris streets, for stealing beef .from a cellar, was held in S6OO by Alderman Allison, : Railroad Accident:— This morning, about a.qnarter past 8 o’clock, Joseph Welch, aged 12 years, was run over by the Norristown train at tho Depot, in Manayunk, and had his right foot badly crushed. He Was taken to his home, No. 4509 Main street, Manayunk. Delegates Elected.— Messrs. John F. Preston, David Wallace and J. Andrew Mark ley have been elected delegates to represent tlie Twenty-first Ward in the convention to revise the rules for the government of the Re publican party. . The New Public Buildings Commission. —This body held a meeting this afternoon at the Mayor’s office.
