This Norplpg's Prciaeedings.
The Convention of the Protestant Episcopal
Church re-assembled in St. Lake's Church
this morning. After Morning Prayer. the
Convention vvas promptly called - to 'order-at
-10 o'clock. The number of listeners assembled
was much larger...tbday. • ..
Bishop Stevens was in the chair. The roll
was not called. .On motion to that effect, the'
rule was suspended. Stich being the case, no
addition tools place to the number of delegates
in attendance.
After reading and adopting the minutes of
last night's session, nominations were made to
fill clerical and lay vacancies in the Standing
Committee.
The nominees were Dr. Benj. Watson, Revs.
ThomasE. Davies, E. A. Foggo and J. Percy
Brown, Messrs. It. It. Montgomery, Chas. E.
Lex and Joseph S. Whitney: .
Rev. 'Mr. Foggo withdrew his name.
The clerical tellers were Rev. Dr. Wadleigh,
A.A. Marple and A.P. Brush.. Lay tellers,
Messrs. L. Coffin, A: Ricketts and P. Baldy,
Jr.
Rev7Pr.--Paddo*-offered-a-resolution , that_l
the Convention meet next year, on the third
;Tuesday in May, in St. Luke's Church, in this
city.
Mr. Hunter moved to fix the second Tues-

He - wanted St. Andrew's Church-as the__place
of Meeting instead' of-St:Luke's.- _
Rev. Doctor Drumm otiered\a resolution
that the religious services of the-nl.xt Conven
tion be held in St. Luke's Church, but that the
, business of the Convention be transacted in
some public ball, to be chose' by a committee
appointed for the purpose. The Doctor
thought that the holding of a business meeting
iu a house consecrated as a ternple•of God wai
out of place, and that scenes sometimes oc-,
curred,in the, course of the business, harmless
in themselves, but violatory of the purposes
lor — which --- our - churches—are --dedioated,_ .as
temples for the worship of Almighty God.
Another delegate objected to - this. - The
'scesie or conduct that would be improper in a
-- tetriple - of God - would "first--defile-a"- temple-of.
.._the_Holy Ghost."
The Bishop Called attention to the fact that.
the first two days of the Convention are so oc
oujiied in re igious E•ei ices as to render-the
--- Tproposed - removal at least-inconvenient.
• This amendment was. lost.
--. Dr. Paddock's motion, as amended by Mr.
--Pratt, was -carried.. The: convention iu 1871
ag4embles, therefore, in St. Andrew's Church,
on_ the second Tuesday of June.

sideration so.much of the Bishop's Address as
hears neon the - ,s - übject of — the - division - of the
diocese.
This was so amended as to provide that the

journment to-night.
For the - Lay and Clerical candidates for. the
Standing Committee, the tellers now an
nounced the vote to be thus:—Clerical—Rev.
Dr. Watson, 70 ; Rev. Mr. Davies, 56; Rev. Mr..
Brown,7. •Scatterieg, - 5. Total;138.
The tellersheing unable to decide in the
case of the lay delegates, another ballot was
•
Mr. Wm. Welsh offered a resolution to post
pone the election of-delegates to the General
• --Convention.until Monday_next. This eyoked
-- an earnest debate. It was adopted.
Mr. Welsh also moved that balloting for
other nominations be also dispensed with, as
there - was but one candidate for --each- office,
and that the election be made viva yore.
Agreed to.
To fill a vacancy in the Committee on
Canons, caused by the death of the late Geo.
M. Wharton, Mr. G. W. Hunter was ap
pointed by the Chair.
Rev. J. W. Robbins was elected Registrar
of - the Diocese, -
Messrs. Thomas Robins, Thomas H.71 - lont-
Tonrer:.,-, Edward Clark and John S. Newbold
were elected Trustees of the Christmas Fund.
. Mr. B. G. Godfrey was elected Treasurer of
the Convention Fund, and Mr. R. P. McCul
lough Treasurer of the Christmas Fund.
Mr. Charles E. Lex was then- elected to fill
the remaining vacancy in the Standing Com
mittee, Mr. Montgomery withdrawing his
name in Mr. Lex's lavol.
The subject of the Missionary Report was
then taken up and discussed up to the hour of
adjouniment.

lowing letter has been received from Rich.

" The money received is distributed by a
Committee of citizens appointed by the Board
of Commerce of this city, who visit in person
hull thoSe whose circumstances require the aid.
" No better or more reliable citizens could
havg been selected, and donors to the charity
matrest—assured_that_alLAbe_mone is ex
pended on those, and only thoso,who actually
require it, and have demonstrated to ..this
Visiting Commithie that they are worthy re
-cipienta.
"Isaac Davenport, President of the Na
tional Exchange Bank, is treasurer of the
fund, and will gladly give any information
that may be needed.-
" I learn that at present there are about MO
that the committee are aiding gradually. As
the beads of such families as have been
wounded are able to return to work they are
stricken from the list. Where the family, by
death of those who supported them, - are left
destitute, the committee will endeavor to aid
until they can gain some livelihood."
Fon SAVANNAII.—The steamship Tonawanda
will sail for Savannah on Saturday, 21st inst.,
at BA. M., from Queen street wharf, where
she is now loading. The Tonawanda sailed
for Savannah on the 2titli of March last, but
encountering the severe storm of the 27th,
was so disabled that she was compelled to re
turn for repairs, which have been completed
in the most thorough manner, and special at
tention given — to her passenger accoramoda
tions, which are of the most comfortable
character. Stockholders or others interested
may see her at the wharf at any time previ
ous to her sailing.

McFarland, aged 12 years, residing at
Twenty-first and Lombard streets, was
drowned, while bathing in the Schuylkill,
at Brady's Wharf, below .Bainbridge street,
about 7S_ o'clock last evening. His body was
recovered this morning and the Coroner
notified.

Norris streets, on the charge of snatching a

—The'Sunday Schools belonging to the Arch
Street Presbyterian Church
pastor, celebrated their anniversary last even
ing.' The spaciouS audience chamber was
crowded in all parts with the scholars and
friends of the schools. The exercises consisted
in singing by the scholars and addresses by
several distinguished divines of the Presby
-terfairchurch. The - annual report showed. the -
schools to be in a highly, ffoUrishing condition,
the present membership being about 450. This
congregation is one of the largest of the de
nomination in the city.
