about to be enplaned. The Union Transfer

tion, and the result was a contract with Messrs.
Collings .& 625 Arch street, for build
ing ten one-borse coupis.- Five of these vehi
cles have now been completed. They are con
strunted in a very handsome manner; and the
interior arrangements ' are of the most, cpm
fortable and: luxurious style. Each carriage
will Carry; two persons. 'The intention is to
run them in connection with all the trains ar
-1 riving in the city. The agent of the Transfer
Company mind train, while Making arrange
ments for the conveyande of baggage to hotels,
depots, &c., will at, the same. time sell
a ticket' tor' a'' mune, at one • dollar, or
cents_for each passenger. That will be the

at noon to-day in the rooms of the Board, No.
222 South Fifth street,-
Mr. Strickland Kneass was in the chair.
A plan of the street lines south of the Navy
- yard was presented for consideration by the
Board. It was exhibited also to such promi
nent property-holders as appeared for the
purpose of consultation concerning it. For
arranging these lines the Board was disposed
to' give, every possible consideration and de
ference to the parties in question. Among
-these-Wpre several-represented by-Counsellors
Wharton and Shippen. - . •
The discussion, was suspended, until June
7th-, at 101 A. M. To please all parties in the
matter is not easy.
A petition to widen Merchant street was
presented. The Board recommended the wid
ening. • •
It also recommended the construction of a
sewer on Mascber street, between Dauphin
street and Sumpehanna avenue: AlsO, a three-,
feet sewer on Franklinetreet, between Oxford
street and Columbia avenue.
The Board approved the plan of the line and
grade regulations of Bustleton, TWenty-third
Ward ; and proceeded to the examination
(upon the ground) of Paoli street, which was,
aidied to be placed nylon the City.Riad.
The Board then adjourned.

The income tax tuts beau fixed at 5 per cent. ;
with an exemption of 1111,500.
Mr. Schenck reported the Tax-bill this
morning. The bill makes a total reduetion of
thirty-three millions, nine hundred and sixty
six dollars. The I,ncome. tax was fixed at .1
13er cent.,and an eXcroption of sl,roo. ,Schedule
, taxing carriages, pianos, watches, silver
plate, &c., is abolished: • ' -
The tax on, sales and gross receipts is
