The Left Centre, which has withdrawn from

Such weather as we are experiencing at
present is rare, indeed, in the month of April.
From winter we have rushed at ones into mid
summer. The Easter holidays have passed
over most brilliantly and propitiously. The
Emperor went to the races on Monday, and
was well received. On Tuesday lie" was present
on horseback, at a grand Cavalry review in the
Bois de Boulogne, and looked in good health,
although his increasing corpulency has made
him almost unfit for the saddle, where he beare
now a strong resemblance CO Punch.
A very large muster of Americans was to be
seen, on Wednesday evening last, at the annual
bill of the British Charitable Fund. It is au
indisputable fact now in Paris that hardly any
thing can get along Without American patron
age; and whenever you ask the question.:
"Who was there?"—no matter what locality
or occasion you refer to—you are sure to hear,
as part, at least, of the answer to your inquiry
that there were "lots of Americans!"

April 18) the incoming trains are bringing fresh
supplies of passengers. Up to the present the
number leaving this port is far in advance of
the corresponding peritll of last year.. These
emigrants are chiefly from the counties of

The tide of emigration from Queenstown
still continues, and seems to be rather increas

Prince Murat and DI. Comte---A. Sacrifice
for Liberty.
The High Court of Tours, France, will not
be troubled with the trial of Prince Murat for
au assault upon M. Comte. Replying to a ques
tion addressed to him in the-Corps Legislatif,
M. Emile 011ivier intimated that, probably, the
affair would be arranged, and it appears that
such is the case. • •
M. Comte has addressed a letter to the
Prime. Minister Of France in which he says
that he never sought to obtain a mean ven
geance, and that he did not' intend to become
the catepato of any party. f , You wish, it is
said, to establish liberty. I desire not
to offer any iinpedlment to tilt+ establish
inent by creating embarrassments to your ad
ministration. For that 'reason I declare by the
present letter that I withdraw_the complaint.
which I had lodged against Prince Murat, fore
going all rights of action against him on ac
count of the, violent _acts of which he was
guilty toward me. I• pray yon, M. Le Ministre,
not to proceed with the affair.' The Paris op
position journals make merry over this letter,
and indillge in various speculations as to the
real motive for so sudden. , an act of forgive
ness, the'.2lappe/, wittily, but perhaps unjustly,
suggesting , that.the plaintiff " it a comple."
