for the erection of nevi buildings were issued.
Tbis is. a 'decrease of 133 from the same
month last year. The character of the
buildings to be put' up is: Dwellings, 505

Exchange, 1; engine, 1; foundry, 1;. hose

pertnits issued for alterations and additions.
--During the month the' Board directed that
20 dangerous buildings and chimneys and six
wooden buildings should be, taken down.
The school-house for which a permit was
issued is to be erected at. Seventeenth and .
Cbristiau streets.. It will be 49 by Si. feet, arid
will be three stories in height.
The church'will bi 3 at Sixty-first street and
• Bezel avenue, between Walnut and Lombard,
and will be 45 by 71 feet.

mour, aged 17 yedfs, Who • has been in the
Philadelphia House of Refuge and has, also
served a term in the Trenton, N. J., jail, was
before Add. Quirk upon the charge of obtain
ing goods under false pretences. He was em
ployed in the confectionery store of H. Jones,
No. 604 Arch street, and his particular duty
was to deliver at ihe houses of purchasers
articles which had been purchased at the store.
After delivering the goods and obtaining a
receipt, he would return, say that there had
bi-en a mistake, and get possession of the
patkage without returning the receipt. It is
then alleged that he would sell the goods.

ASSAULT AT A .SIPPER TABLE.—Patrick
Flood was before Recorder Givin this after

Andrew Colden, colored. Defendant is a tire
man and the prosecutor a waiter on the
steamboat Twilight. They had a quarrel at
the ,upper table on Friday last. Flood is al
lugrd to have thrown at Colden a cup which
lick him on the head and caused an ugly
crank. He was held in 5.1500 bail for trial.
BURGLARS CAPTURED.—This morning about
three o'clock the rear shutter of the house of
John McKenna, No. 940 Carpenter street, w is
forced open. Mr. 'McKenna heard the nois , ,
and attacked the thieves with an axe. The
robbers ran into the street and rushed into
the arms of Policemen Feeny and Cannon.
The prisoners gave their names as Joseph Mc-
Kinney and Thomas Sweeny. They will have
a beating at the Central Station this afternoon

tending from the Dalles of the St. Louis River
to-the-Red-River,-the_western_boundary of

including everything requisite to complete the
road-bed for a single track, and necessary side
tracks, ready to receive the-rail superstruc
