He thought by adopting the report of the commit tee the Board would, to, a great exteut,c6mmit itself in favor of the admission of the work, which lie was not prepared to do. The book was full of advertisements of publishing-houses, contrary to the meaning and intention of the Board, and the words of some of the songs had been pronounced objectionable. He married Miss Ford, of Devonshire, a niece of the celebrated Richard Ford, whose book on Spain is a recognized model of good taste, bark temper, and curious scholarship. Mr. Hughes went from Rugby School to Trinity College, Oxford, and was, a , famous oar in his time.
