TERRIRLE.RIOT AT RIVERSIDE, N. .1
Three Men Shot and Several Stabbed and
' Otherwise Injured.
Yesterday morning the Lady Masons,
of Camden, New Jersey, had a pic
nic at Miller's Garden, near Riverside.
The whole party numbered between two and
three hundred persons. They wore acconipa;
• nied by a gang of roughs from that place, who
amused themselves throughout the day by
. lighting with each other, and with the Ger
.' mans residing there. •
In the afternoon the crowd was swollen by:
the arrival of a number of rowdies from
Beverly, Delaneo, and other places near, and
• , a terrible riot occurred at thelliverside Hotel,
kept by Nathan Reed. After lighting for some
time three revolvers were brought into requi
sition, and at least a dozen shots fired at
the crowd.

another had his head grazed with a
bullet, and a fellow named William Gallagher
received a gun-shot wound in the leg. The
."""'". latter person was conveyed to Delanco, where
• his wound was dressed by a surgeon of that
place. Several persons were badly cut about
the head and faee, but as far as could be ascer
tained their wounds were not of a serious
character.
. Officer Isaac: Hullens, who arrived at the.
scene of the riot about three o'clock, attempted
to make an arrest, but was driven out of the
• hotel and from the grounds by the assaults of
the ruffians. He soon after, with the aid of
several ci,tizens, succeeded in arresting John

During the melee at Muller's Garden a Ger
man minted i raraz Speigelpetg received a.
severe stab in the back, under his right shod

manner that will make his future appearance
far from ornamental. ' Mr. Henry (arvey. in
endeavoring to protect Speigleperg, was
'roughly handled.'
PEspensheitz was violently assailed,.
and Only escaped from serious injury by- the
use of his revolver.
On thc,previons evening another disgrace;
