and Water below Chestnut, 1. The lamps on
Water street Ore located opposito alleyways, so
tbnt the light will be shed on to the docks on
Delaware avenue.

nuisance eevetal times. Snubbleyand his wife have
freqnc nt spats, and otten come to blows. Yestor
dsv they had another quarrel, and Bnubblcy re
ceived a frightful wound in the head. Hecturged
biß wife with having strnck him with a hilehet.
but she denied having committed tbo murderous
assault Snubbley was conveyed to the [episcopal
Hospital, where be lies in a critical condition. He
refused to prosecute his wife, and she remains at
large.

Larceny os- a Watch.— George Jones was ar
resnd yesterday, in tho Twenty-fourth Ward,
upon the charge of having stolen a watch from a
stable in Ibe Twentieth Ward. The timekeeper
was recovered at a pawnbroker's establishment.
Jones was committed by Aid. Manll.
Attempted Roiuiicuy.—An attempt was made
to rob the store Of Casselberry & Cadwalader,
dealers In elolts SDd casslmerea, No. 830 Arch
street, last night. The front door was forced
open, bnt the thieves were frightened off by tbc
polco bt fore they had time tosecure any plunder.
Resighed. WilUamßnth and Peter Ingram,
members of Reserve Corps of Police, resigned
this tnonieg. Both were appointed by Mayor
Henrv, the formor on the 17ih of March, 1859,
and the latter on the 6th of Oetobor, 1861.
Reckless Driving Alfred Plum was arrested
yeßteiday, at Eighth and Markot streets, upon
the obargo of drivlne a wagon in a rockless
manner. Ho was taken before Alderman Jones,
who imposed the nsnul penalty.
Robbery. —The dwelling of Mr. Jacob Cramp,
No. 608 Wildey street,*was entered last ovenlng,
through a back window,and was robbed of cloth
ing valuid at 865. _
