RonnEnx By MASKED Max.—This morning,
about one o'clock, three men entered the house,
of Mr. John Davis, which is located a short dis
eance troll/ the old Lancaster turnpike, about
five miles from Market street bridge. The en
trance was effected through the kitchen
door which is supposed to have been
entered by means of nippers. The
burglars were masked, and they proceeded to the
eleeping apartment of Mr. Davis. He was
aroused, but the rascals seized him by the throat
and almost choked him. Mr. Davie had been ill
for some time, and was in a weak condition. He
told the scoundrels that he was unable to resist
them. The ruffians then proceeded to a room
occupied by a daughter of Mr. Davis, and
told her that if she gave any alarm
they would kill her. The house
was ransacked, and from a trunk in the bedroom
of Mr. Davis $7OO were taken. There were four
$lOO notes, about $2O in silver ten and five cent
pieces, and the balance in small bills. After the
robbers had departed Miss Davis went to the
nearest house and notified the inmates of the af
fair. Word was then sent to the Sixteenth Dis
trict Police Station, and Lieut. Tolbert sent men
out in all directions but no traces of the thieves
could be obtained.
WOODEN WEDDING.—The filth anniversary of
the marriage of Rev. T. DeWitt Talmage was
celebrated last evening at his residence, on
Eighth street, above Brown, which was visited
by many members of his congregation, nearly
all of whom took with them articles of various
kinds. At white hour in the evening the dining
room presented a peculiar appearance, there
being piled up wooden•ware in large abun
dance, comprising tubs, buckets, flour
safes, a clothes-horse, wooden bowls, large
and small; elothes-pins, pie boards, mince meat
boards, and, choppers; a large boot-jack, ex
tenctiag almost the entire length of the room, toys
for the little ones,.and other articles of wooden
manufacture too numerous to mention. Some
of the wooden dishes contained vegetables and
articles of ruse. Speeches were made during the
evening by ibe Pastor, and Messrs. Moore, Sap
plee, online, Nichols. McCarty, and others.

A Brum. GANE.—Pat Fox was arrested at

at the house where the articles were delivered,
and afterwards from the party who ordered
them. Fos. was taken before Alderman Beitler,
and was .committed by the Alderman in default
of $l,OOO bail.
RAIDENG GUSNEII6.—it is contrary to an
