It requires a systematlied plan of Operations, and can only be well and pro-, perly attended to by regularly, organized institu tions, which make it a matter of study and in vestigatio stich an'organized system is presented to this communitylU "The Home Missionary Society of the City of Philadelphia," whose Board of Mana gers now respectfully submit to the public their Thirty-,S'tcond Alin:lel Report. Throughout the year of the Society, which' endswith the 15th of December, 1867, the General Agent and the Missionaries, aided for a short time, during the serious illness of Mr: Toland, by an energetic lady, made • 4,650 visits to the needy poor and sick. 2,330 families and persons received relief ' 659 orders (221 tons) for coal weragiven. 901 orders for:groceries, were given. 69 pare of Shoes were given. 661 articles of clothing were given. 4 105 families were supplied with medicines. 130 who applied for relief could not be found, 209 proved entirely unworthy. 165 families were supplied with coal (157 tons) - at half. price, ;Homes and places, chiefly ' tithe country, were secured for a; children; and ' , employment was obtained SR men andliorimm. 14' °w ideie sent to the Almshouse, , to the hospital, and 1 to the Rosin° Association. , 24 persons, including a family of five, were furnished with transportation from the 26,679 pages tedigions tracts, .. 8.9 religious papers, SA Bibles , and 1 Testainent were distributed. 2st ,proyer.meetings Were held, - • 33 temperance meetings attelded, b! It is proposed to build it on the lot on Third street, below Bridge, avenue, but its location is not yet decided upon., In the mean time, however, the work of soliciting eontribn tions and raising of funds will he vigorously prosecuted, and during the holidays a grand Fair and Festival will be given the proceeds of which aro to be appropriated ' towards the gene ral building fund. .
