CITY NOTICES.
Nrw Dar Goons Enronium.—ln a Very impor
tant sense, the progress of a great city arises from the
successful enterprise of her merchants.lt , there
fore, an agreeable duly to chronicle the i is;
of
-mercantile prosperity. Prominent in this field of ad
tsncement, North Ninth street, Philadelphia, presents
Many stakstantial evidences of success. Among the
commodious, artistic and elegant business edifices
lately erected on this really handsome etreet, the most
sttractive is the new, capacious and beautiful estab
lishment, 'No. 2:4 North TNinth street, which will be
Opened on next Monday, the 2let lust., by Mr. F.
'.s , conellermacin, as an emporium for thegale of first
chat f hy 4 and staple dry goods, furnishing goods,
clot *it imeres, shawls, dress goods, &c.
Thi„ new and splendid edifice possesses every requi
site pertaining to a-complete and convenient dry-goods
otore. The light throughout the building - is uniform
and excellent, soft and beautiful, and perfectly suited
for the examination of the lineetgoods, and the most
delicate shades of color. This admirable adaptittion of
lights is of the utmost importance to purchasers in
selecting goods, and will be appreciated by all.
The extensive, - varied and beautiful assort
ment of goods offered by Mr. Schuellermanu
is in • keeping with his excellent facilities
for selling' them. Purchasers will derive another
immense advantage from the extremely low prices at
which he sells his goods. Instead of purchasing his
stock of- goods, both imported and domestic, at the
Timid time, Mr. Schnellermann purchased at panic
yrices durin the present depression in `trade, which
has resulted' in his favor by a /si rye percentage, as
nearly all kinds of goods have suffered a material de
cline from the opening prices of the season. He is,
therefore, enabled to sell dress goods, such as plain and
plaid poplins, French inerinoes, mourning goods,
cloths. cassimeree. flannels, imported goods generally,
And all domestic woollens,at a reduction in prices which
buyeni will appreciate. Ile certainly merits credit for
*.civing his customers the benefit of this immense re
duction.
Mr. Schuellermann's facilities for purchasing he goods
st first hands are unusually good, and as buys
mainlyfor cash, and attends the best sales, his prices
are so uniformly low as to present the greatest induce
ments to purchasers.
We respectfully invite our readers to visit this new,
cleptit, extensive and attractive establishment, and
decide for themselves concerning its superior -merits
and its prominent advantages.
TO THE LATHES—TILE - NEW PARIS MILLINERY
ENIPOY.IVIA, AT NINTII ARP CHERRY STREETS. For
several days oast the corner ofNinth and berry hag
peen the centre of a crowd of observers, attracted by
a very curious and altogether novel "Illustrated" or
"Illuminated" store-front that has been gradually ap
proaching completion in that locality. It is now
finished, and is decidedly the gayest object on Ninth
street. 'Go and see it, everybody. We have just
learned that the store is to be devoted , to "Paris Mil
linery," and that the magnificent stock which is there
to be thrown open to the public oyWednesday next
will be as novel, attractive, and beautiful as the store
itself. The proprietor is one of our best-known and
most enterprising merchants, and he has made a "hit."
The' magnificent stock of French Flowers and
Feathers, and Paris Rats elegantly trimmed, and tine,
rare Millinery Goods of every description, which
he will open on Wednesday, us we know from advance
inspection, will surpass anything of the kind ever
peen m Philadelphia. The ladies will please make a
note.

SAFETY RAILROAD SWITCH
MAIN,TRACK UNBROKEN.
I am now prepared to furnish railroads throughout the
United States with my Patent Railroad Switches. by the
use of which the MAIN TRACK IS NEVER BROKEN,
and it is impossible for any accident to occur from the
misplacement of switches.
The saving in rails, and the great saving in wear of the
rolling stock, which is by this moans provided with a
level, smooth, and firm track at sultelitsiln place of the
usual movable rails and the ,consequent severe blows
caused by the open joints and battered ends, is a matter
deservingthe especial attention of all Railroad Companies.
AS A MATTER OF ECONOMY ALONE this inven
tion needs only to be tried to insure its adoption: but
beyond tho economy THE PERFECT IMMUNITY
FROM ACCIDENT caused by misplaced switches
is a subject not only of importance in respect to
property saved from destruction, but it concerns THE
LIFE AND LIMB OF ALL TRAVELERS UPON
RAILROADS.
I refer to the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Com
pany, and to the New York and Haarlem 'tanned Co.
I am now filling orders for various other Railroad Corn.
pantos, and I will gladly give any information in -detail
that may be desired.
