taken by the Academy of Medicine in reference to llntf’s
Extract of Mult, whicii wan submitted to it for exiimin t
tion Home weeks since, I have to inform you that the Com

to report upon it, took the matter into csucThl conaidera
tion, and, ou the 6th inst, a majority of the Committee
presented a report thereon, of wliich the following U an
extract:
This letter and the following report, are signed by the
Chairman of the Committee, Dr. John 11. Grissom:
REPORT TO THE NEW YORK ACADEMY OF ME-
, lmi „ , DICING.
* The Committee have ascertained,to what they consider
a BUHicient extent, the INGREDIENTS of the article, and
also its MuDE OF PREPARATION, and they have rea
son TO BELIEVE thit it differs in pome marked PARTI
CULARS from the usual preparations of malt known un
der the name of BEER, ALE. AND PORTER, and THEY
BELIEVE IT CALCULATED TO ACT AS A MILD
TONIC, and to a certain extent as a NUTRIMENT in
Bomo coses, in which the ordinary malt liquors might not
bo found to agree, especially. fn consequence OF THE
MODERATE QUANTITY OF ALCOHOL it contains in
comparison with them, and they feel justified in RE
COMMENDING it to the profession-for trial in appro
printo cases." «
