Superb Wedding and Holiday
Pbesekts.—The word -silver.” in cousequence of the
-war, does not now sugg* st the jingling of coin, as it did
years ago, and consequently people do not recognize
the immense quantities orthn precious metals now
•consumed, The quantity of silver annually produced
Is of almost fabulous worth, some of this is used for
coin, but a very large proportion is consumed for
plating. A few years ago, when sliver plate was
sdoken of, Europe was immediately suggested
with gay capitalists, courts and banquets’
iorln America comparatively little was in use but
row r liver plate Bnggejte America as well as EuroDa.
The statistics of trade in tils country show a stead v
and rapid Increase in the use ef plate and plated ware
Our merchant princes use it ai lavishly as cue*
court princes of the Old World, and, Indeed, persons
in moderate circumstances in the country indulge In
it to an extent tu paralleled elsewhere, for shrewd
common sense tells them that it is cheaper than china
in being more certainly being much mon
ornamental. °
The most celebrated establishment In this country
for themanufactjre of silver plated wa*e, la that at
theN. incomer of Ninth and Chestnut streets in this
city. Here are employed the most finished and
expert artiste, who constantly produce new, beautiful
ana unique designs. All of the old members of
the firm or John o. Mead <t Son are here, and the
work is carried on under th'ir immediate supervision.
In this establishment particular attention u given to
the manufacture of hard metal goods, which are fullv
equal l»durability, beauty and finish to the far-famed
•Sheffield Ware. When the large amonnt of sliver
used Is considered, these are actually the cheapest.
Our readers, who desire to make acceptable
wedding and holday presents, that will last as me
mentcs of friendship for a lifetime, should by all
means purchase some article of sliver plated ware at
the establishment N. E. corner Ninth and Chestnut
