A HANDSOME TESTIMONIAL.—During the
war the Washington Steam Fire Engine
Company removed in their ambulance 2,113
wounded soldiers. A certificate of the-Coln

underneath it a bust of Washington. On
each side are torches and axes, and at the

T9O-aritrlSON BOILER A SAFE STEAM
This new Steam uenerator ;combines essential ad
vantages 1N ABSOLUTE SAFETY PEON EXPLOSION. in
Brit cost and cyst of repairs, durability, economy of
fuel, meility of cleaning and transportation, not pos
seaaed by any other holler.
It Is formed of a combination of oast-iron hollow
tinheree—each eight inches in external diameter, and
three eighths of an inch think, connected by carved
necks, and rebate machine madejoints, held together br
wrought-Iton bolts with caps at the ends. The farm if
the strongest known; Ira strength to resist Internal
pressure:Very great—nnweakened as it is be punching
or riveting, which lessens the strength of the wrought
iron boiler plate about forty per cent. Every boiler is
tested by hydraulic pressure at SOO pounds to the square
inch. IT CANNOT BE BURST UNDER ANY PRACTICA
BLE STEAM rues:man.
Under pieseure which might cause rupture in ordin
ary btilers. every joint In this becomes a safety valve.
No other steam generator possesses this property of
relief under extreme pressure without !Wary to itself,
and thus preventing disaster.
It is not aerionsiy affi cted by corrosion, Which so
soon impairs the strength of the wrought iron boiler,
It has economy in fuel, equal to the best boilers.
It gets up steam quickly, at d with little fhel—pro
duces superheated steam without separate apparatus,
and is not liable to priminz or foaming.
It Is easily transported, and may be taken apart so
that no piece need welsh more tnan eighty pounds. In
difficult places of access, the largest boiler may be pat
through an opening one' foot square. It is readily
cleaned inside and eat. Under ordinary circumstances
it is kept free from permanent deposit by blowing the
water entirely out under full pressure once a week. It
requires no special ski lin its management, Injured
parts can be renewed wilt great faculty, as they are
uniform in shape and size. When renewed the entire
boiler remains as good as new. The greater part of the
boiler will never need renewal, unless unfairly used.
A boiler can be increased to any extent by simply
adding to-its width, and being the multiplication of a
single form, its atrengh remains the same for Wishes.
It has lees weight and takes less than one-half the
vound area of the ordinary cylinder boiler, without
being increased In height.
Any kind of fuel may be need under this boiler, from
the most expensiVe, to refuse coal dust. -
Over two hundred of these boilers are now in opera,
tien.some of them in the best establishments in thig
city. For descriptive circulars or prices, apply to
