THE SOLDIERS' ORPHAES.—On the com-
ing 4th of. July over a thousand of the or
phans of the soldiers who died on the battle
field in the defence of the Union, will be
present in this city to participate in the
grand flag presentation. They come from
distant counties, and will therefore be
thrown upon the hospitalities of the city
during their stay. The , boys are already
provided for, but it is desired that the girls
—four hundred and fifty in number, and
from nine to sixteen years of age—shall re
ceive accommodations in the private houses
of our citizens. All who can accommodate
any of the children should make it known
to the committee as early as possible.

A HANDSOME COLLECTION.—At the Spring
Garden M. E. Church, on Sunday last, a
very handsome collection was taken up. It
was announced that 6214000 was required
to free the church edifice at Twentieth and
Spring Garden streets from debt, and finless
than an hour the entire sum was subscribed.
SIINSTROKIL - During yesterday there
were four deaths from sunstroke in the
city-LMichael Redman, a drayman, who
had been in the country about ten dive;
Nicholas Boston, colored, a hod carrier; a
man named Herb and Louis Schubert.
A TrrifA TAPPER.-A young man named
Joseph Robinson was arrested yesterday
for having robbed the money drawer of
Greare's Hotel, Spring Garden street, near
Twenty-third, of six dollars. He was com
mitted by Aid. Hutchinson.
RIMED EY A HORSE.—Patriok Sweeny,
8 years old, residing at No. 431 Marriott
street k was kicked in the forehead by _a
horse,..yeaterday, and severely injured. He
was admitted into the hospital.
BODY RECOVERED.—The body of Captain -
Purnell Harrington, of the tug-boat E. A.
Solider, drowned --a few days ago from off
the tug was recovered yesterday, below
Reedylsland, and brought to this city.
