CITY BULLETIN. MIMIC AT FAIRSIOUNT.—No arrange ments have yet been made for music at FairMolll2t Park during the coming sum mer.. Last year, it will be remembered, there were- two bands—one cat Fairmount . and ,tbe other at the Park—and the after noon concerts were very popular. Thou sands of pecyle visited the grounds daily, and the various railways running in that direction, transacted a very profitable busi ness. The Union Passenger Railway Com-. - pany, we understand, bas already taken the initiative towards securing a band for this 47 year, and, it is hoped that success will at - tend the movement. No doubt the other railway companies will cnoperate in the •'` matter. NEW BUILDINGS IN.TWENTY-FOURTH • WARD.—A large number of valuable im provements are to be made the present season in the Twenty-fourth Ward. Among ' those already commenced are the following: Five brownstone front dwellings at Fortieth • and Chestnut streets; six first-class dwell ings, with side yards, at Thirty-ninth and Chestnut, four of which will.be on Chestnut and two on Thirty-ninth street; three fine r.' stores , on Market street, west of Fortieth; five first-class dwellings-on Spruee street. between Forty-first and Forty-second streets, nearly unshed. Work_has also been commenced on fifteen fine dwellings on Spruce_ and Pine streets, in the same vicinity. • Boons BAsit Murray, . arrested at Manaynnk on the charge of passing a twenty-dollar bill, purporting to be an issue of the First National Bank of Portland,, Connecticut, had a heaiing be fore United States Commissioner Sergeant yesterday. James Brown testified that Murray passed a note of the kind described on him:, and Lieutenant Holgate and Ser geant Peterinan testified that three counter feits, all twenty-dollar bills, were found i in defendant's possession alter his arrest, be sides 121 35 in good money. He was bound over, to answer. There is no such bank as the First National Bank of Portland, Con necticut. DEATH OF AN ESTIMABLE CITIZEN.—We announce, with much regret, the death of Mr. John B. Neagle, the historical engraver, which took place at his residence this morn ing, at five o'clock. Mr. Neagle was widely known, and appreciated for his high talents and gentlemanly manners. He had been in business in this city for some fifty years, and had hosts of friends; and as as an ar tist could not be excelled. He was born in London, and came to the United States at the age of fifteen. His character was un blemished. The cause of his death was a tumor in the bowels. He was confined to his bed for two months. AN EXCELLENT MOVE.—The citizens of the Fifteenth Ward held a meeting last evening and appointed a committee to look after the sanitary condition of that portion of the city. The committee is composed of energetic citizens, and they will doubtless do much in the way of accomplishing the purpose aimed at, both by co-operating with the public authorities of the city and thr Pugh independent action. The example of the Fifteenth Ward is well worthy of imitation by other Wards. ALDEEMANIC FlNES.—Daring the month of April, the amounts of fines and , penalties paid into the City Treasury by the commit ting magistrates were as follows:—By J. R. Massey, 1562; John Clouds, $34, and Lewis Godbou, $45. DOGS, BEWARE.—Chief Ruggles has given notice that the ordinance relative to the taking up of dogs, hogs, goats, and any other animals running at large in the city of Philadelphia, will be strictly enforced on and alter Monday. THE NEW COLUMBIA BASE BALL Ground and Skating Park will be inaugurated on Monday next, by a grand match between the following clubs: Swift-foot, Hatters, Alert. FAREWELL OF MADAME CELESTE. —At the Arch this evening Madame Celeste takes her benefit and makes her last appear ance. She will appear in "St. Mary's Eve" and in "The Child of the Wreck," supported by Messrs. Robson, Rankin, Tilton,James, Mrs. Thayer, Mrs. Creese, &o. The en gagement of Madame Celeste, though a fine one artistically, has not been a great success pecuniarily, but we hope to see a splendid house to witness her personations in these favorite plays. "The Streets of New York" will be given to-morrow. Brcikirrrr or FRANCOIS RAVEL.—At the Academy of Musks an entirely new bill will be given to-night for the benefit of Francois Ravel. "The Magic Flute," "The. School master," "The Three Flying Trapeze" and a new Spanish ballet are among the attrac tions, and there will - doubtless be a "gor geous" house. To-morrow will be the next Ravel rnatinee t and on Monday "The Green Monster" will be produced, the last week of the Ravel engagement opening with its presentation. EDWIN BOOTH'S BENEFIT.—At the Wal- nut "Hamlet" has been superbly produced, and this evening it will be repeated for the benefit of Mr. Edwin! Booth. Of course the honsewill be crowded to its utmost capacity. Miss MAssii., MITCHELL takes her-fare well benefit at the Chestnut this evening. She has never acted more charmingly and gracefully than during her present engage ment, and we expect to see on this, her last night, an overwhelmingly crowded house. "Little Barefoot" will be the attraetion. MR, Wm. E. SINN, Resident Manager of the Chestnut, takes his benefit to-morrow. Both the afternoon and evening.will be de voted to the testimonial. In the 'afternoon a capital melodrama called "The Hut of the Red Mountain" will be superbly placed on the stage, and in the evening Miss Julia Daly will appear in her famous character of the IPemale American Cousin, in the play f that name. She is said to be almost un equalled in this part, and as she is always a lively and spirited actress we may look for a dashing performance. The afterpiece will be "The French Spy," with Miss Kate Pen noyer as the Spy. Of course there will be one of the finest houses ever seen at the Chestnut since its erection. Mr. Sinn has very many claims on the theatre-going public as well as the public in general. His house has always been at the disposal of the firemen for benefits, and in all cases of public, calamity he has been ready and eager to aid the distressed and the suffer ing. His liberality in the production of ex pensive pieces is known througnont the en tire country, and we are confident that his merits will be generously acknowledged to-morrow. MB. MCKEE Ilarnutz takes his annual benefit at the Arch on Monday night. He will present 'a capital bill and his friends will see that he has a very fine house. SIGNOR Burr, at Assembly Building, gives entertainments this evening and to-morrow afternoon and evening.
