MAY DAY CELEBRATION AT THE NORTH , Sun Homy von FRIENDLESS CwiLrataw.—There was a large attendance of visitors, yesterday, at the North ern Home, to witness the exercises connected with the Fifteenth Anniversary of ita formal opening. 3. W. Claghorn. Esq., presided Short addresses were made by Rev Mr. Torrence and Mr. Mason. The children recited a number of appropriate pieces, in a very creditable style. The dialogues were capital ; greatly delighting all who heard them. The careful and thorough character of the instruction given the chli dri n was very apparent in the exercises. A large number cf very beautiful songs and hymns were sang, amongst the most admired of which were, Ring the Bell, Watchman" " When my , Fairy Ship comes in;" Away to the *oods, Away," and the anniversary hymn, "We are Coming, gladly Coming." These songs. and a number of others, together with the dirt logues and recitations, will be repeated at the regular annual, meeting, which takes place on next Tuesday evening, May 810, at Dr. Adams' Church, Broad and Green streets, at a quarter before eight o'clock. On this occasion, one hundred -of the children will para.- ' tipate in the singing and recitations, and short ad dresses will be delivered by Rev. Mr. Henson. Dr. Render, and ether popular speakers. There are at this aline connected with the Home nearly four hundred dhildien, one hundred and el:My of whom are the orphans of soldiers and sailors. his is a larger number than have ever before been inmates of the Home at one time, and in order to met the demand for greater facilities, the erection of a new building, which will contain a larger school room, laundry, dining room, sitc., Is to be commenced at once. The appearance of the children, yesterday, was all that could have been desired. They not only presented.adecidedly happy and beautiful appearance. nut were neatly and cleanly dressed, and behaved themselves in the most unex ceptionable manner.
