The Ohio Bank Robbery. [From the ritteburgp Dispatch, of yesterday:l One of the most daring and sticceasfal robberies which hat ever been Perpetrated' in this section of 'country took phice yester day morning, about two o'clock. at Cadiz, Ohio. From information received, it ap pears that at the time stated a gang of six disguised villains burglariously entered the dwelling of M. B. Brown; Esq., Cashier of the Harrison National Bank. The pro ceeded to Mr. Brown's chamber, where he and his wife were sleeping, and by picking the lock obtained ingress. They roused Mr. Brown, and with a flourish of revolvers and bowie knives demanded the keys of the bank of the vault. The bank officer, faith ful to his trust, refused their demand, and Cried out for assistance, whereupon they .;.„. felled him to the floor, and placed a wooden gag in his mouth to prevent his utterance. •They tied his hands and feet, and securely fastened him to a chair. They next turned their attention to Mrs. Brown, who stood pleading with them to spare the life of her - husband. They swore they would kill them both if the keys were not instantly given them. The wife, terrified beyond ex • pression at the threats and menaces of the armed villains, obtainedand placed in their possession the coveted keys. Leaving a guard of two behind them in order to pre vent an alarm being given, the other four robbers proceeded to the bank, and, having; the keys, experienced no difficulty in get ting possession of all the funds in the bank. 'They secured the enormous sum of three hundred and fifty thousand dollars in Gov ernment bank notes and securities, which had been left the evening previous in the vault. This amount may be considerably swelled, as there were a number of special deposits in the safe at the time of the rob • bery, the full. amount of which cannot be ascertained for several days. After completing the, robbery, the signed for their comrades, and the entire party got aboard of a hand car waiting for them on the railroad, and took their departure, coming this way. They were last seen ten miles on the other side o IStenbenville, where they abandoned their car and took to the, dense woods of that . neighborhood. Previous to committing the robbery the thieves out the telegraph wires communicating with this city, in order to prevent the news of the robbery going ahead of them. They were all strangers in Cadiz, and had gone • there on the hand Car in the dead hour of the night. Experienced detectives have been notified of the robbery, and we trust to be able to chronicle the arrest of the entire Wwithin a• few days. The robbery I its bold character, and the amount of plunder secured, has created considerable excitement in the neighborhood_ of Cadiz 7:".. and Steubenville. Mr. Brown, the valiant 'cashier, who would sooner have lost his 3ife than give over the keys in his trust,. was suffering severely yesterday from the brutal treatment received from the robbers. There is no clue as yet discovered which may lead to the detection of the parties engaged in the robbery, but with the aid of experienced detectives, they will in all probability soon lbe brought to justice. A despatch from Wheeling, West Vir ginia, dated yesterday, says: The burglars engaged in robbing the Harrison National Bank of Cadiz, Ohio, were overtaken about two miles from La Grange, Ohio, this after noon. A sharp encounter took place, in which one of the robbers was wounded and three captured. One of them succeeded in making his escape closely pursued. The amount of money reeovered will probably exceed $150,000. 0. 1 VCM ;i 1 ) ri MMIA RESLSTANCR: TO THE,II3. B. MARSHAL.— The parties arrested in Chester county for resisting the U. S. Marshal in the service of a writ. had a hear ing before 11. S. Commissioner Smith, yesterday ..flet. moon. • The names of the prisoners are Thomas John son, James Orr, John Fleishman. George ,Ifolmes, David Smith. G. J. Stump, John Buchanan, Charles Richardson, Thomas Lowndes and Richard Lowndes. John F. Sharkey, Deputy Marshal testified—On Thurs day last several writs were placed in my hands, to be served at a place to be pointed out by Mr. Abbott, de putized to go with me. I went to the place, three xntles from Avondale station, Chester county. and rapped at the door; it was opened by a young lady; I told her who I was; she tried to shut the door, but I pushed on, and went np stairs. When I and Abbot were near the top, I was taken hold of and pushed back; I pulled out the writs in the case of Goodyear vs. Smith, and banded them to men whom Mr. Abbott designated. While i was proceeding to read the writ, there was much noise up stairs, and I was assaulted by Charles Richardson, also by some one from behind; I. was jammed on the stairs, and Thomas Lowndes passed down. The witness then described the resist ance at alehouse of Mr. Melee, in the same neighbor hood. He was there assaulted by Thomas Johnson and John Miller; afterwards, stones were thrown at him, one of which hit him. Other witnesses were examined, but the facts elicited did not vary from those published yesterday in the BULLETIN. The accused were held for trial. THOSE BEA Weil , ta. Rakes had, daring the past few months, experienced considerable adventure. Herwas arrested, last fall, on a charge of stealing a horse and carriage from Samuel Cake, Mal, of Longacoming, and during hisimprisonment feigned Insanity so completely that the Court ordered him sent to the Insane Asylum, at Trenton. From that institution be soon afterwards made his escape, and his whereabouts remained unknown until about ten drys since, when be was discovered somewhere on the line of the Reading Raiir.ad, and brought back to Camden by the Sheriff and Officer kYres.whett he was committed to his old quarters, ror trial, but from which be has again escaped.
