previously expressed eulogies of Mr. Sinn, as we are
confident that his benefit will be one of the most tri
umphant testimonials ever offered in America.

"The Woman in Red," a capital drama made of nearly
the materials of "Games " and in which her grace and
genius will conspicuously shine. She will be supported
by Marlowe. Robson. Tilton, Miss Price, airs. Henri.

benefit.
Tay Wer.sruT —Mr. Edwin Booth will appear to
night as the hem of "Buy Bias" and of "Don Omar
de Ewan." These are two of his most gracefal and

troupe wind up their engazement,Proceeding to 'fresh

Proposals will be received at tills office for the erect
tinn and construction (complete) of a Naval Hospital
at Philadelphia.
Plans and specifications of the proposed buildings
can be seen at the office of JOlll2 McArthur, Jr., archi
tect. No 208 South Sixth street, Philadelphia, who
will afford all bidders every information necessary to
a lull understanding of the requirements of the Di
p rtment in the matter of the erection and construc
tion of tb e Hospital aforesaid.
Each proposal to be considered, must be guaranteed
by two responmble persons, certified by the United
States District Judge, Attorney or Collector, or other
public officer, as to their competence and willingness
to guarantee to the sum of thirty (30) percent. of the
whole amount of the proposal Tired, that the bidder
nr bidders so guaranteed (should the contract be
awarded him or them) shall.withln ten days of the
acceptance of his or their bid, enter into contract with
the Sk avy Department, fir the erection and construe
thin of the Hospital and its appurtenances and carry
through the same to completion, according to the
terms of the bid and the plans and specifications above
innntioned.
Proposals must state the shortest time required to
c mplete the contract, with the understanding that
between two or more bids of *goal amount, the De
partment will give the preference to that naming the
siortest time.
Payments for the work will be made monthly as it
progrisses, upon certificate of the Architect stating ita
mount and quallty,and that the terms of the contract
have been complied wi•ti—the Department reserving
twenty (D) per cent. of the whole amount of each cer
tificate until the buildings are delivered into its hands
o.mplete and ready for occupancy, according to
the terms of the contract for the erection and con
struction of the Naval Hospital and its appurtenances
before mentioned.
All the proposals must be addressed to the under

The proposals will be opened in the presence of the
bidders, at the Navy Department, at noon or Tuesday,
of ay 22,1868.
Tne Department reserves to itself the right to reject

Inst., it wan our misfortune to be located on the lower
floor of the five-story building No. 202 Broadway, The
large Safe of your manufacture, which we had in We,
was in the back part of the building, more than one
hundred and fifty feet from Broad Way, difficult to
reach with water,and exposed to the hottest ofthe fire,
We got at It Saturday afternoon, and found the
knobs and Iplatea melted off, and were obliged to cut
the doors open, when to our great, s ,, 'lion, we
found our books, papers, policies ofirumrance, money
and indeed everything in the Safe in first-rate condition

Messrs. HEnuato & Co.—Gentlemen:—l have just
opened my Herring's Patent Safe, which has lain
among the embers of the Broadway and Fulton streets
fire since Friday morning. the 6th inst. The safe was
in my - office, on the third floor, and was in the hottest
part of the tire. 'Notwithstanding the fall and great
heat endured, the Safe has been true to its name and
Its trust, and faithfully sustained the reputation of
your house.
All my books and papers contained in the Safe ate
in as good condition as before the fire; except the alight
damage occasioned by the steam which comes from
