The Coroners In the case. of John Maloney, whb was shot at National Guards IffuLas stated in the Second Edition, Corimer Taylor - held an inquest this morning. The following evidence was elicited. erancia behreiber. residing at No. SIB Cherry street, testified: Was at the ball of the Invincible Base. 'Bail Club, at the National Guards Mall; met Maloney there about eleven o'clock; didn't see him again until after he was shot: went to Clawson's salmon opposite the hall t° get a cigar; Paul and another man were there at the eating Maloney was not there saw no diffi culty bttween Paul and Maloney three men came in, . bad drinks and then had hard wordawith Paul; the' smallest one of the three caught Paul by tne neck; Paul said that e didn't want to have any more words; that,. he wanted to haven main afighnattersomemore words the three men went out, Paul and his friend remained in; the next I saw of the party tneywere in the hall hailoaing, "I hat's the man - who shot him," pointing at Paul. the man who hallotted was not the one who nod Paul by the throat; after the three had left the tavern Paul and his friend left; Pard'a friend said that ft wa3 ' very foolish to fight—that it was-only a company affair; Paul amid that the three worde not be anything to him-thelittle one only a handbill: while standing in the middle of the street I saw a scuffle in the-vesti bule, and immediately afterwards heard the report of a pistol: Iran saw Paul running. through the vesti bule; a party were running after him and halloaing; the man who was shot was lying inside of the door; did not see any pistol . dld not see Paul pass • anything to any person while he was running. Shapleigh made apost-mortem examination of the deceased; there was a pistol ball wound in the corner of the left eye -ball paasing along the inside of the eyeball -and-entirely through the brain; the de ceased came to his death from this wound; the ball was found in the . brala and was very much cut n 3. Paul walked across the street and the same party attacked Paul: 'they hit `him several times; after they went up into the hall I heard a pater shot; didn't see who fired, it; didn't see Paul ' until he was brought down; think that deceased was the man who hit Paul in Clawson's saloon. , Robt.
