• Philadelphia_Board of Trade. , • • The stated meeting for Deceniber was held on Mon . day evening. President Welsh In the chair. - The Committee or thellionth presented a Comnauni • cation from Samudl C. Morton, Pas:, late President of • the Board, recommending, now that the former objec. , tions of the Board have been removed by the return of • peace and the restoration of the national authority in the Southern States, that action should be taken in favor of a uniform system of bankruptcy: Also, calling attention to the dangers Incurred to navigation by the destruction of the light on Cape Florida. TheSerretary.reported the names of two hundred and fifty new applicants for membership of the assteci ation. which, on motion of. Mr. Souder, were unani mously elected. -- A paper was received and read, and referred to the Committee of the Month, from the Boston Board of Trade; in favor of aiding the organization of Southern labor by the assistance of Not tbern caphal, and rectum mending governmental co-operation through the. Freedmen's.. Bureau In the effort to increase the Pro duction of Southern - staple. The co-operative action of this and other associations is requested. The resolutions of Mr. Hand on the currency and the financial situation next came up, and excited an animated discussion. The resolutions were adopted, as follows: • Resolved, That, in the judgment of this Board, the finances of the Government of the United Suites were managed during the rebellion with a skill and wisdom only equaled by the grandeur of the cause which- was imperiled, the integrity of the Union. Resolved, That with the suppression of the rebellion and the return of peace, measures for the restoration of the currency to its normal condition becomes a duty on the part of the Unitsd States and a cause of great solicitude on - the part or the people lest, by injudicious measures and a rapid contraction, their interests should 'tie needlessly sacrificed: ; Resolved, That the- plicy pursued by Hon. H. Mc- Culloch, Secretary of the Treasury in keeping steadily in view a specie basis as the safe and true foundation -of a national currency, and aiming to reach it as early as possible by a gradual abeoretion of the excess of paper money now in circulation. by which policy alone . the transition can be made from an irredeemable to a convertible paper currency without injury to private interests, is by this Board recognized as eminently ju dicious , and worthy of its strongest commendation. The secretary then, an the request of many mer -chants, brought to the notice of the. Board, with the so licitation of their strongest protest, the subject of the requirement of the officers of. the internal revenue de partment, under tho decision of a deputy commissioner, that their clerks and employes shall, under heayype natty, take out licenses as "commercial brokers," - whenever, as they constantly do under the present eys temorbtisiness, exhibit samples to solicit orders for their principals. The subject was referred to the Com mittee of the Month, with directions to make every' • exertion, through the committee now sitting for the • revision of the internal revenue system, and the Com missioner of.lnternal Revenue, to have this action :•-abandoneyl. I The Land of this Company consists of 120 ACRES in Mecklenberg county, North Carolina 3.l'i miles from the town of Charlotte, one branch of Sugar Creek, le which stream furnishes gook wa te r power for grinding the ores. This Mine was first o ened In 1836 by a man named Carson, who worked it a ccessfully fora num ber of years. He died In the t wn of. Charlotte, in , t. 1646, worth over half a million d • liars. Two shaft-s have been sunk on his property, one of them so feet, the other 60 fee , on different veins, averaging from two to three feet 1 in thickness, which i r veins still continue on down Mar Mg in width and richness. These shafts are in go d order, and ore can be readily taken out at any time, ther veins have been discovered on this property, and tested and proved to be very rich in gold. The ores o this mine are known as the brown ore,-and very rich, yielding readily uis per bushel. This is believed to be one of the best and most certain mines in the State, on account of the abundance and quality of the ore, and ease in which it is obtained and reduced. This property has been worked by Major Z. A. Oder from 1840 to the breaking out of the war. This Company have purchased this property, and Intend to erect machinery and put the mines in immediate operation. The many advantages of this mine over the mines of Colorado and Nevada can hardly be estimated. It is more readily reached, and has abundance of fuel, with cheap labor. .It can be worked all the year, and not, as in the case of Colo rado and Nevada, be compelled to lie idle for three or lour months in consequence of the severity of the winter. This mine having been worked for a long time, proved to be a rich paying one. We do not, therefore. have to incur the risk there Is in an undevelopEd pro petty, but can count on large and immediate returns on the investments. Having snore that readily yields itio per bushel, some estimate can be made of the value of this property. With the present Imperfect systempf mining in this locality, and absence of pro per machinery, ten tons of this ore can be taken out daily from every shaft opened. Estimating, say 15 bushels to the ton, the daily yield will be 41,500 from one shaft, allowing perday for expenses. The net product will be $1,20 per day; counting 300 working days to the year, the yearly proceeds will be $360,000, which yield can be largely increased by extending the works. This is considered a very low estimate of the capacity of this mine by experienced miners of that locality. The Assayer of the United States Mint at Charlotte, in speaking of this property, says it has few Equals in productiveness in that country, and with proper management and machinery the above pro duct can be doubled.
