their shrinking from tuts duty, causing him to de

juries received by a railroad accident last winter.
Gen.' Neal Dow is likewise very ill from the ef
fects of his long incarceration..
The inan.ot-war's-man murdered in Boston on
Sunday morning box been identified- as John- To
bin. Deceased was twenty six years of age, and
was formerly a seaman on board the United States
frigate Niagara. .

JUDGMENT.
Resolved, By the Select and Common Councils of
the city of Philadelphia, That the City Solicitor be
and he is hereby authorized and directed to release
and exonerate and forever discharge the following
described property of Frederick J Walter, from
the lien of a judgment entered on - the official bond
of J. B. Dehaven,- collector of outstanding taxes
for the Nineteenth Ward, that is to say, all that cer
tain three story brick messuage or tenement, with
two-story back building and lot or piece of ground
situate on the east side of Fifth street (formerly
called the Old York road), between George street
and Girard avenue, and at the distance of one hun
dred and forty (10) feet northward from the south
ern boundary of a lot marked S. M., No. 10, in the
plan of the partition of the estate cf Win. Masters,
dee' d, in the Sixteenth Ward of the city of Phila.
delphia, containing in breadth or front on said Fifth
street twenty (20) feet, and in length or depth ex
tending thence eastward keeping the same breadth
at right angles with said Fifth street about one
hundred and fifty-two (152) feet six inches, to a lot
of ground new or late of. Judah Wear. Bounded
northward by ground now or late of the estate of
Abraham Henry, deceased, southward by ground
now or late of Philip Elfrey, east by said ground
now or late of Judah Wear and westward by Fifth
street aforesaid. Provided, the City Solicitor shall
first be satisfied that there is sufficient property
covered by said bond, and that such release will
not impair the security of the city; And Provided
further, that the said Frederick J. Walter shall
pay to the City Solicitor for the use of the city the
sum of ten dollars, to defray the expenses incurred
in the publication of this resolution.

AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE -AN
EXCHANGE OP CERTAIN PROPERTY IN
THE FIFTEENTH WARD.
SECTION 1. The Select and Common Councils of
the City of Philadelphia do ordain, That the
Mayor is hereby antborised to execute and deliver
to Abraham W. Rand such deed as shall be suffi
cient in law to convey unto him in fee all that
certain triangular lot or piece of ground beginning
at a point in the north line of "Parrish street, at the
distance of one hundred and twenty-two feet six
inches and seven. eighths of an inch west of Twen
tieth street, in the Fifteenth Ward of the city of Phil
adelphia, thence northward parallel with T twen
tieth street, sixty feet, thence westward, parallel
with said Parrish street, fifty-nin'e feet eleven
inches, thence south-eastward, by ground of
Abrahem W. Rand. eighty-four feet six inches
and one-half of an inch to the place of beginning,
upon the said Abraham W. Rand paying the sum
of one hundred and seventy-five dollars, and also
upon the execution and delivery of a deed to
the city of Philadelphia sufficient in law to
convey in fee unto said city all that certain trian
gular lot or piece of ground beginning at a point
sixty feet north of Parrish street and sixty feet east
of Corinthian avenue, in the Fifteenth Ward of the
city of. Philadelphia aforesaid, thence northward,
parallel with Corinthian avenue fifty feet one
inch and three. fourths of an inch. thence south •
eastward, by gronntl of the city of Philadelphia,
seventy feet seven inches and three- - fourths of an
inch, thence westward, parallel with Parrish
street, forty-eight feet ten inches and one eighth of
an inch to the place of beginning. The expense
incurred under this ordinance to be defrayed ex
clusively by the said Abraham W. Rand.
