General Hancock was then introduced and made a few remarks. A number of petitions were presented. An act incorporating the Newcastle and Frank lin railroad was passed finally. Adjourned. LOCOMOTIVES FOR THE GOVERNMENT. We are informed that there is no truth ih the despatch from Paterson, N. J., published in the newspapers yesterday, to the effect that Col. McCallum, had notified the locomotive builders of that placS, that unless they would furnish immediately a large number of locomo tives to the Government, he would seize their shops and run them until the requisite number of engines was completed. The facts of the case are simply these: “There-opening of roads in the West and Southwest makes it necessary that about one hundred and twenty locomotives shall be ready for transportation thither at the earliest practicable moment, and Col. McCal lum has visited the shops alluded to in Patter son, as also Norris’s and Baldwin’s in Phila delphia, and similar works elsewhere, for the purpose of securing such engines as are near completion. The builders promptly acquiesced in the request of the agent of the Government, and the Westemroads will he supplied; although necessarily to the inconvenience of the corpo rations for whose use they were originally ordered.” INCREASE IN JUDICIAL SALARIES. Harrisbubo, March 17. —-The Committee of Way s and Means of the House of Representa tives, have agreed to increase the salaries cf the Judges of the Courts of this Common wealth, and will so report in the Appropriation Eli].
