In the future we shall he surprised at
nothing we may hear ; about the Duller oil
field. Here is the latest story, vouched lot
a Tollable gentleman just fro;n the front.
Ttio Mcl'herson well, on (lie Barnhardt
farm, near MillerMown, now being drilled
by the Arque Bros., Is producing refined
oil of a very superior quality. This oil is
found at the bottom ot tbe second suiJ, at
a depth ol less than 1,000 leet. When tbat
point was reached the hole filled up lor five
or six hundred feet with pnro rllned oil .
Specimens of it are to be siien at Millere
town and at tb well. Our Informant said
that in his opinion the cause ojtthis oil be
lag fouod in tbe second sand is this: Tbe
gaes from tbe oil below in the third sand
rise through the silt water rock, aod tbenc
condense in the second Baud above a d.s
lance of trom four to five hundred leet.
The condensation of the gases in the second
sand, fulling into crevices, after passing tip
tbrongb the salt water and being pur riled
by it, U thus converted into a pure refined
oil of a gravity of about 62 degrees, aod of
about 70 to 80 Farenbeit. This oil does not
bave tbe disagreeable odor which is charac
teristic, ol oil refined by artificial means,
and it doe not bave the acid taste of green
oil. Will Duller cuunly ever bold up? Not
satisfied wilb Hooding tbe couutry witb
crude oil, the operators down tbere must go
'o work producing refined. Nature ba8
established refineries for tbem ueurly a
Ihousund feet beuealh tbe surUce ot tbe
ground. All.tbe refineries ou tbe Creek
will have lo shut dowa if this refined oil belt
is very extansive. We expect soon to beat
that butter uud lard mines have been dip
covered in the Butler oil field, and pufsibiy
underground cheese factories. There is
probably no end to the subterranean wealth
of the lower oil field.
It is said that tbis oil of naturo's reGnirijj
is as sweet to tbe taste as tbe purest olive
oil, and will protiably soon be lound on t ie
table of every first class hotel. For medi
dual purposes it is probably not surpassed.
As we listened 1 1 our InenU's account of thi8
refined oil vein, we comd not help r.'U-c'.
