gru, Superintendent, was struck by light
ning and two men, Richard Sweet and
Nelson FraTioisco, who wero in tho derrick
at the time wero instantly killed. .Mr.
Sweet was engaged iu diiiiing and Mr.
Francisco, was sitting on a stool in the
comer of the durilck, at the moment of
thei riD9.ai,t n?oi s death. Tho person of the
former exhibited lew external icaiks of in
jury, except upon the foot and breast,
though bis clothes were considerably burn
ed. The other unfortunate man was
thrown violently to tho floor and bis hip
and forehead cut. Tiie derrick wnsshatt'T

ner of it oud the ropo. L It was noted that
the links of the silver chain worn by Rich
ard Sweet were separated, also the case of
bis watch. Mr. Sweet had loliuwed the
occupation of drilling some four years; bo
was a single man, twenty-lour years of
age. He has a brother at Shamburg, of
the firm of Jones & Sweet. H;s -remains
will be taken to-day to Sandy Hill, N. Y.,
his former resideuce. Mr. Francisco wns
about forty-fivu years of age, lived at
Shamburg and loaves a family to mourn
bis untimely dcatb. He was making a
friendly call on Sweet who, when Ibe storm
came up, was warned to "shutdown," but
