The Bennett and Crawford welt, the new
strike en Mlddletoo Run, Is now pnnping
ten barrels dally, not 45 as at first repre
sented.
The Rcdfleld well is producing 12 bar
rels.
The Bautn well Is producing nine bar
rels.
The Widel well ts being sunk deeper, the
discovery having been rosdo that the well
was not through the third sand.
Five wells' have actually commenced
drilling on tho Marshall farm, two miles
below.
TUB TliHOCTB DISTRICT.
This locality is daily attracting more and
more attention of operators in all parts of
the country. On the Ilojderaon farm, tho
Clapp well Is pumping seventy-five barrels,
and many new rigs are going up. Consid
erable property Is changing bands in this
locality.
The Tidioute & Warren Oil Co.. sold
5000 barrels of oil Friday, at the following
prices 2000 barrclj $3,o7'j; 3000 bbls at
$3,90. We bear of a sale of 4000 barrels
on private terms.
On the Tidioute & Warren tract, the
Fisher & Cushlag wells are as follows: No
1 in third sand. No. 2 drill iair. No. 3 nnmn.

This new aud important oil field is being
rapdiy developed. The good producing
territory is now fully one uillo square, and
the prospects are that it will prove as largo
as any old district heretofore discovered.

Veasngo Oil Co., of Pittsburgh. The wel!e
are among the oldest in this district ard
have fallen off considerably within thelait
sixty days. Coe, Smutz & Co., 2 wel is pro
ducing 27 bbls, Cellins Bro., two wells pro
ducing 10 barrels, Irvington Oil Co., two
wella pioluciog 4 barrels. Arminia well,
producing 2 barrels, Wideawake well, pro
ducing 4 barrels, Hoffman well, producing
2 bbls. Total 60. Number or wells drill
ing, three.
On the Royal E. Scott farm. This farm
is owned by Scott, Grandin & FIsber. Dew
ey t Laney well producing 7 barrels. No.

On the U. CV Scott farm. Thornburg

witnesses were in attendance at Court

General Sherman wrote a letter, on Thurs
day, acknowledging the receipt of ono from
General Sheridan, wherein the latter de
fends his conduct on the Indian question.
General Sherman repliesythat he indorses
Sheridau's letter, and says he tirefera to be-
lieve Coionel Baker rotative to the detrulg

the stories trumped up at Benton, oue hun
