seeks to recover $1,000. from Mathins Blank
and Eliz McDonald for the loss of time aod
service of her husband, Charles D Person,
and for labor expended "upon him for six
months succeeding tbe 14th of March, 1869.
She alleges that on tbe day Ingestion tbe
defendant McDonald sold ber husband Ave
drinks of intoxicating liquor, and Ibat tbe
defendant Blake soldJMm three drinks, and
that be became unable to control himself,
fell and broke bis legs. Tbe defendant,
deny all liability on their part. During tbe
examination, a Mr. Balsley, who testified
in relation to the cundilloo of Piersonijwhen
be called at bis house on that evening, .was
aiked if Pierson had not drank some of the
witness's patent cider,and replied that be bad
nol; tbe witness added that that article was
not intoxicatlng.and he was not manufaclur
ing at that time. This brought up an Inquiry

A new well was struck Friday upon tbe
C. Persons tract, near Sbamburg, which Is
reported as doing fully 75 barrels per day.
It is known sa tbe "Innlss well," the work
ing interest being owned by W. J. Innlss,
of Pioneer.
A new well completed upon the Emery
Bros. fc Colwell tract, Friday, is do
ing about 75 barrels per day, though some
estimate is doing over 100 barrels daily.
Three One wells have just been complet
ed upon tbe Cbicaga tract, or King farm.
These are owaed by the Chicago Petroleum
Company, of which Judge Gutbrle is tbe
representative. One of tbo new strikes is
repotted pumping CO barrels per day.
Three barks and two schooners sailed
from Philadelphia, during tbe past week,
carrying 205,033 gallonaof petroleum to
foreign ports. Three shipo, five ba'ks and
two brigs are now loading. Siace tbe first
of January 5,627,249 gallons have been ex
ported.
Win. Dirling, ot Oil City, was yesterday
brought before Alderman Donaldson on a
obarge of larceny, preferred by Wm. P.
Laubrey. From the testimony it appears
that Dirling was employed hy Lougbrey to
drive a -team from Oil City to some place in
Indiana county. He was necessarily absent
from Oil City for three or four days at a
time, lie bad been driving tbe team dur
ing tbe winter, but about the 7th of tbe
present month be disappeared and no traces
could bo obtained of bis whereabouts. It
was found that be bad sold tbe horses aod
wagon to some man in Indiana! county and
Immediately took bis departure for the
West Constable Sarber yesterday arrested
DUling in this city, and after a bearing be
was committed to tbe lock up and will be
taken to Iudiana county, where au Infor
mation for larceny has bewB made against

Seven merchants, all doing bvsinesg on
thtsam street in Halllax, were lost in the
steamer City of Boston. Tbey bad gone
out to purchase their spring supply of goods
and will cover more return. This is a sad
