OMAHA.
Hast ever heard ot Omaha,
Where rolls tbe dark Missouri down,
And four strong horses scarce can draw
An empty wagon through tho town!
Where every bubble, late or soon,
From Irolby substance overflowing,
Is made in a ivery large balloon,
By eooetant and persistent blowing
Where muddy waters rise and swell.
With fearful and resistless mlgb'l
Where fish are oaugbt by teose o f tmeU,
Because they cannot see to bite?
Where sand Is blown from every mound
To Hit your eyes, and ears, and throat;
Where all tbo steamer are aground,
And all tbe shanties are atoat!
Where taverns .have an anxious guest
For every corner, shelf, and crack,
With hall the penjd going west,
And all the others going back?
Where whisky shops tbe livelong night,
Are vending out their poison jijjce;
Where men are often pretty tight,
And women deemed a tiiBe loose!
Where 'beats' and 'blacklegs,' thick as
.'hail,
Are deep in faro, Cuds, and vices ,
Where real estate is slill for sale,
Aud held at most outrageous prices?
Where tbe theatre are all tbe run.
And bloody scalpers come to trade;
Where everything is overdone,
And everybody underpaid?
If not lake heed to what I say,
You'll and it just I h;ivi found it,
And if it lies urJt n your way,
For Gcd's sake, reader, go around it.
