Death op Mrs. J. G. Ooiiek. We learn
ot the sudden death Of Mrs. J. G. Ogden,
of Oil City, who expired this moruing at
about 7 o'clock. The deceased arose from
her bed, and wbilo in tho aot of dressing,
something gave away near her heart, the
effeot causing sudden illness. A physician
was called who prescribed something for a
slight illness, and took bis departure. She
sank rapidly, however, and died before hrr
physician again arrived. Il is supposed
she died of heart disease.

ternal revenue tariff remain undisturbed for

that a material reduction of taxation can be
allowed without detriment.

Condition op C. W. Keller. A few
days ago wo gave an account or the mala
ctous poisoning of C. W. Keller, Treasurer
of Er.e county, and the precario us condition
in which be was reported on Wednesday
Tbe following letter addressed to bis brother,
W. S. Keller, of Titusville, describes the
condition of the unfortunate man on Friday
last:
"Watson (Mr. Keller) is better to-day,
tbe doctor thinks, and so do we all. He is
very weak indeed but has bad only three
spasms to-day, and they were not very bard,
lis bad none last night, and rested very
well, with the exception of having to be up
very often. Ilia stomach and bowelB are iu
a terrible condition. Yesterday be would
not partake ol medicine from any one. He
was deranged and thought tbe doctors
wantcd t0 poison bim.
The doctors thought
it was not strange that his brain should be
affected, even worse than it was. To-day
bis mind is clearer, and be has forgotten all
about his foolish fancy. Still we have to
put his medicine iuto something, so be will
not detect it. Tbe doctors think his symp
toms much better, and have hopes of bia
recovery ; still it is a matter of time. "-Herald

Tbe prosecution tn the Brooks case has
closed, reserving the light to call tho wit
nesses who have beon spirited away and
cannot be found. Tbe defence will try to
prove an olioi. The court refused to admit
tbe affidavits of Neil McLaughlin, driver of
the carriage, made before Mayor Fox, on
which the Indictments were found against
the prisonors.

Neil McLounblin has been held in $20,000

Old shoes are again transformed into mar

mixed with an adhesive gum and presort
