Tho meeting was organized by electing the following officers: Jns. A. Sheriff, Esq., President, John M. Picky, Esq., Vice-President, and E. W. Coddingtnn. Secretary. II. K. Tuft, Esq., was called upon to ex. plain tbe object of the meeting, which he did in a few words, subs'nntinlly as follows "We hove met together for the purpose of concerting measures for the Iw tter protec tion of peaceable and orderly citizens, which can only be done by tho removal of those elements which in any community are an tagonistic tu good order and subversive of the peaceful relations that should exist be tween man and man.
