Mutiny In the Ohio Penitentiary.
A mutiny occurred et the, Ohio Petutentlary
00 Tuesday. It neems that certain prisoners',
serving under sentence of military courts mar_
tic], and engaged ;In what la called the dead
head shop, disobeyed the prison rules. Deputy
Warden Dean sent word for the offenders to go
to the office, Intending to put them in the dun
geon. Understanding kIC timbal, they sent
word back to the deputy warden that if he
wanted them ho would have to take them
by force. In the meantime they armed
themselves with clubs, and when the deputy ar
rived they met him with defiance. Tne guards
were eent for, and on their arrival the prisoners
resisted, and In the affray Warden Deco broke
the bead of one of the men with his emee, and
one of the guards shot another of the priSoners,
wounding bitn, severely. The determination
and good lighting of the Deputy Warden over
came the mutineers', and lb* ringleaders were
finally arrested and confined la the guard house.

Bureau m.o. that in ten thousand free negroes

died, from the 17th of March to the 31st of
May, (or want of medical attendance, which It
was Impossible to afford them at that time.
Since the establishment of the medical de
partment of the Freedmen's Bureau In North
Carolina the mortality among the freedmen
has greatly decreased.
The message and amompanylng reports of the
heads of the Department are all finished with
the exception's to some of them being revised.

so soon prepared in advance of Congreas.
Official news from BI Paso was received this
evening by Romero the Mexican Minister, that
the recent movement compelled the French
troops at Chihuahua toevacuate that city and
slate, and to withdraw to Durango on the 25th

hua. President Juarez writes on the 3d Inst.,
that he was about leaving El Paso for the city
of Chihuahua to re-atablish there the National
