Advice have been received here from the
election in Florida, which took plate on the 10th
lust. A very light vote was pullet; it did not
exceed 8,000 in the entire State. Toe dekbirates
axial Lathe State Convention are mostly of a
strong Union character and stronglyendorse the
policy indicated by One. /1.11.17 in. Judge Bar
rett was elected delegate from the Jacksonville
district.
Strong efforts are being made to 'induce the
President to release ex-Senator David L. Ynlee,
of Florida, from Fort Puiasl,l, where he is now
confined. Ynlee Is President of the Jack
sonville and Tallahassee railroad, a man•of wide
influence on the political and national interost‘
of the Stat,-, and his ruk.se Li greatly desir,l
by the people .r nuritki in order that he may
exert himself for the restoration of the business
prosperity of the State.
delegatiotP from Florida is here unglue the
szuspenalon of the order of Gen. !toward as to
the occupation of the Sea Islands. They watt
the freedmen kept there temporarily till all ar
rangements can be made for their transmission
to the State of Florida, where their labor is
much needed by theydaatera.
The Ifereqrs Ws/hp:aan special says: C
John W. Fairfield, of Lnadou county, ex-chief
of the rebel General Longstrmt's stall, and woo

Since the execution of Champ Ferguson,, at
Nashville, certain parties here who aro familar
with Col. Mosby's war history, are Interceding
themselves with a view to bringing the latter to
Justice. They allege that Mosby, although a
rose colored, gentlemanly sort of a rtiliaa , was
guilty of guerrilla atrocities which wonld have
wide Champ Ferguson guilty. They claim to
bare the names of ex rebel officers among the
list of witnesses, wherewith to prove the inhu
man crimes upon the Virginia pertiz sus.
In conscquenee perhaps of the raising of
money and other organized eff..irts to prevent
the mustering opt 6f the veteran reserve corps
by the next Congress, it is said the authorities
have fully decided to dispose of the corps before
that body meets. Gene-al Fry, and other frf ands
of the corps, seem to have overreached them
selves, and to have precipitated by their OWli
conduct the very action they desired to prevent.
Mr. 8 anion's answer to a recent apelicetion for
a commission In that corps war, that before the
commission could be made out and forwarded
to the applicant the corps wordd craze to exist.
Gen. Great is also understood to favor the
muster out of all troops, excepting the regular
army. If this should prove unequal to the ex •
!genera of the future, Congress can increase it
from time to time. A controlling reason of the
Secretary of Rar aria Gen. Grant Is probably
that the prireeee of the Veteran Reserve Corps
TlLiceriLally desire to lee mnstered out, and the
edifiers so unanimously opiteese It. As the fat
ted' disititereardnese Is not above suspicion,
their recommendations have less weight.
