The annual parade of the FlreDeparttnent (or
rather n portion of the Department) took Placer
to day, and despite the unfavorable sup or the
weather, was a very creditable affair. Owing to

engines, as the guests of the Neptune, followed
next, and made a tine display. Forty-two of
the company turned out, equipped in the Eastern
style of hats and belts, the former blue and the
Muer black; red shirts. open breasted, and black
pants. They were preceded by four ay.emen,
diatlugulebed by the blue ailk collars, with Man,
which, together with gold trimmings adorned
their shirts. The steamer was drawn by sin
black horses well matched, and the hose-ear
liege by the members. The engine wad hand
somely decorated with evergreen, anti rich bou
quets of gaudy flowers, and the mottoe on

Child Scalded to Death
On Friday evening an accident of a dis
tressing nature occurred In the family of Mr.
Jahn Hon; Ohio street, Allegheny. It appears
that the women of the house were engaged In
canning fruit, and had placed a large panful of
boiling tomatoes uaon the dom, for the purpose
of having theta canned. A little boy aged five
or airyerra, son of Mr. Horn, was playing about
the room and accidently fell Into the pan, burn
ing Memel( so badly that he died in about three
hours after. The etuld suffered terribly from
the effects of the barn, and everything was done
for his relief that it was possible to do,
but
the barn was so extensive that there was no hope
of saving hie life.
Correction.
We are relocated to state, by officer Bowden,
of the Independent pollee of Allegheny, that
there was no proposition made, either on the
part of the oilleers, or the defendant, to settle
the case of larceny upbeat William Mehl.
Officer Bowden was not' the prosecutor. but he
InfOrMed - Shark' that If he (Shorts) did not
prosecute Died, he (Bowden) , would make the
information himself. It appears. Sher afore,
that; so far as the officers went commuted, there

Elan Drowned.—Coroner Clawson to-day
held an inquactstpon-the body of a man named
