The receipts have further fallen off in the past
week. With an Increased and active demand last
Friday prices of all qualities were advartoetl.6oq to

change in prices. Monday the market for lugs
was a small fraction lower, but leaf maintained.
Yesterday fine shipping leaf was active and steady
—the market for common lugs was maintained,
but for the better grades of logs and for common
and medium shipping leaf there was a large fall.
Leg off in price. There were more sellers than
buyers, and of 10 hhds stripped and offered, bids

ever; 63 hhda shipping leaf were sold at 140 per
pound, round. The sales at warehouse, far the

RIVER IRTELLIGENCE.
The river rose a few inches at this point yester•
day, and was still rising alowly last Ironing with
Ma feet two or three inches by the Allegheny
mark.. A telegram from Oil city reports, the Alle•
gheny swelling slightly at that point wilh twenty
eight Inches in the channel there. The weather
yesterday was clear and pleasant and seemingly
settled.
The Emma Graham, from Zanesville, is tha only
arrival we have to record, while, aside from the
regular packets there is not a single departure.
Business continues excessively dull at the
wharf, and with n largo number of boats In part,
freights rue exceedingly scarce. Netwithstanding
the rates arc very low low, R, takes a boat on an
average from four to six days to secure anything
like a full cargo. The passenger trade, also, has
fallen oft considerab.y, but this ti to he expected
at this season of the year.
