on Elm street, in the Sixth Wars. Eddy, who

the bill was counterfel•., and he redeemed it. He
subeeonently exhibited this bill to Mr. Dickey,

A Bold Thief
On Wednesday, Mrs. Barbara Dickerhoff, re
siding on North alley, Allegheny, having made
arrangements fur visiting Quincy, Illinois, with
her family, entrusted a boarder, Charles Vane,
with one hundred and twenty-saver dollars,
with which to purchase four tickets, and pay for
extra baggage, col:tainting of two boxes of cloth
ing. Tame went to the depot, but instead of
purchasing the tickets as requested, and ship
ping the goods to Quincy, he bought a ticket for
himself to Bellalr, and shipped the wooda thither.
As Vaine did not return at the expected dale,
Mrs, D. visited the depot and learned what had
happened. She then made an information he
ave Mayor Morrison, woo dispatched Chief of
Pollee }Main in purvtat of Vane. The officer
overhauled him at liellair, and took him into
costodyjnet as he was arranging to leave (or
CinCinnnli with the goods. All the money was
recovered except twenty dollars, which had been
spent. Vane was committed to Jail for trial.
Noteworthy
It le but little known to the public, beyond
those immediately Interested, how great the
travel Is on the accommodation trains of the
Pennsylvania Railroad to Wall and Penn Sta.
tions. Four trains run daily, Sunday excepted,
to and from Wall Station, and one each way to
the latter point. The company with their usual
commendable liberality, is offdring every possible
convenience to Its numerous patrons residing all
along the road for mtlea out of the city. The
curs used are of modern build and luxuriously
comfortable. Mr. John Routh, conductor of
the Wall Station train, Is a "household word"
among the people along the road, and no won
der, en tole genial temperament and obliging
disposition entitle him to their regard. Con
ductor Johnson, who has charge of the Penn
Sintkin train, thongs not no well known, is
growing in favor, and will doubtless make a pop
war and efficient officer.
