Complimentary Letter and Order.
At half-past eight o'clock Saturday mornine the
Fourth Cavalry was formed In freest of the M
or's cffice and marched to City Hall, where a
substantial breakfast had been prepared under
the superelelon of the Subsistence Committee.
Mayor Lowry welcomed them to the city In •
neat and appropriate speech, regretting the mis
understanding of last even ing, but assured them
that the entire messes of our people held them
In the highest regard. They were welcome,
thrice welcome, to the city, and might • mat as
sured that their deeds of valor In defence of thdir
couutry's rights were treasured up In all [made.
The Mayor closed by asking three cheers fir the
gallant commander of the mgiment, Colonel
Young, which was given as only brave soldiers
can give a cheer. In response the Colonel made
a neat and appropriate speech, in which he
tbanktoi the Mayor and citizens of Pittsburgh
for the) kind reception extended the regiment.
