Olt Prospects In ersityPord Comity
We are Informed that the Heydrlck Farm was
sold last week for $OO,OOO. This farm contains
over three hundred acres, and Iles on the west
side of French Creek between Cochranton and
Utica. It was purchased by New York capital
ists who are preparing to develop its value as
oil territory. This Is the largess sale yet made
on French Creek, and the fact of Its selling at
such enormous figures, shows the high estima
tion placed on territory on.the creek. The splen
did strike made by the Sugar Crock Oil Com
pany on the Homan Farm, hits demonstrated
that oil of the best quality in paying quantities
may be procured In the surrounding country,
French Creek lands and the lands along Little
Sugar Creek are In meat demand, and are selling
rapidly at lignres.quito as hlgh.as rands on Oil
Creek.
There" Is reason to believe that the operation's
of the present spring will - develop profitable oil
wells all along French creek, on Little Bagar
creek, the Cussewago, Woodcock, Muddy creek,
Conneaut marsh, and on wavy of the upper trib
ntarlea of 011 creek, and the-small branches of
French creek. Experienced oil men are so well
angled on this point that they ere putting down
wells on several of these streams, and pronounce
the kidl6tions quite as favorable as any aver
found on MOW of thelnoat famous oil farms of
%%mango, Among these we may mention Mr.
James Tarr, of the celebrated Tarr Farm. He is
engaging extensively in developing oil on Wood
cock and elsewhere -In Crawford county, and Is
confident of success. Other gentlemen of largis
experience share his opinion and are Investing
larCel. '
Last y fall when the territory along French
meek and Boger creek begun to attract the 'at
teutlon of oil seekers and speculators, it was
Generally supposed the 'rage for those lands
would only last a short time, to pass array and
be laughed at as a visionary speculation. But
all has given place to something far more
substantial, and the excitement Is' greater now
than at any former period. Lands iris eagerly
sought for at fabulous prices. The stupid Idea
that the Vetianga county line marks the limits
of the profitabk on territory has been complete
ly exploded'. '
