The London. Times. Is again eig , r for
peace. It urges the "opening of negotia

arc shocked and outraged at the prolonga.
Hon of our civil- war. They always were,
whenever the Union cause was gaining.

whenever the rebels sculled likely to got
their desert; was always' extremely touch.
When they wereprosperous; its bow

their heroic valor. It eould.,dismies the
thinning facts of their savage .treatment of
our prisoners With a sneer of . incredulity.
It les never failed to chronicle - our defeats

cause. Hence, The TiMes becomes again
urgent fOr peace. It deplores the sacrifice of
blood and treasure which the-war involves.:
It shudders at the financial- ruin which im
pends over the Northern States. It demands
"negotiations"- for peace; and thinks that the
British Government may now very, wisely

Two Ittlßlow of Bank Stoics Burned.
At Its last meeting the Board of Control of the
Stale Bank of Ohio adopted a resolution that no
more .notes should be delivered to any of the
Branches end that all notes of the State Bank
rercfrekb by the Branches should be returned to
the general office to be burned. To keep up a
enpply of-new bills for thirty-six banks has af
frays reqxired a large amount of several denom
inations to be prepared, and ready for delivery,
to take the place of the worn out, defaced and
mutilated old bills. All this has been burnt, as
no longer needed. A committee met at the office
of the Board, Eoolc den days ago,=and carefully
counted and burnt the whole, amounting to
nearly-two-mßlions of dollars, in sheets, and
thus - dlspestit of 'every dollar on hand. It is
ollko tionontblo to 'the officers, the President,
Vice... President and Secretary, hi whose hands
this paper was kept, and to the Institution, as
showing the earefel manner In which Its bast. ,

atcy was ibernd In any of the accounts, and
that resevien were produced to verify every
