Az Acr to amend the charter of the Washing
ton and Georgetown Railroad Company.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House ol Rep.
re/curatives of the United States of Americo in
Congress assembled, That the Washington and
Georgetown Railroad Company shall have the
wright to extend their horse railway on any
public highway in the county of Washington,
commencing at the present terminous of eith
er of their roade, extending north from Elev
enth and Fourteenth streete, and from the
Capitol mime to Maryland avenue, and exten
ding north from eastern extremity of that
avenue, first laving obtain the consent of the
levy court therefor; and may charge addition
al fare of five cents for every threes miles on
each branch so extended for each and every
passenger conveyed open any road - ocaustraotad
said county of Washington outside of the
limits of the cities of Washington and George
town: Provided, That nothing herein contain
ed shall be construed so as to prevent Con
greys from regulating the fare on either of
said roads, or altering or amend the original
charter of said company, or this amendment
thereto, according to the provisions of said
original chanter.

ury not otherwise appropriated, to be expen
ded under the directions of the secretary of
the Interior, for the purpose of setting the
Navejoe Indians, now captives in New Mexi
co, upon a reservation open the Pecos river,
in New Mexico, for the purchase of stgriaul
iural implements, seeds, and other articles
atccessary for such purpose, for breaking the
ground, and for aubsiatance of said Indians
to the end of the next fiscal year, the sum of
one hundred thousand dollars.
Sec 2. And be it /wart enacted, That the
Enid reservation may =der the direction of
the secrctary of the Interior, be so extended
and enlarged on the south as to include the
entire Tuley of the Pecos river, known as the
Bosom) Grande, and that the whole of said
reservation to enlarged be designated
end known as the Navajos and Apache reser
vation, and as each shall until otherwise or
dered by law, be exempt from sale, anti free
from all occupancy, except by the eald In

Be it enacted by the &nate and House of Rep
resentatires of the United States of America in
Congress assemble, That there shall be and is
hereby granted to the State of California the
"cleft" or "gorge" en the granite peak of the
Sierra Nevada mountains, situated in the
county of Mariposa, in the State aforesaid,
and the head waters of the Merced river, and
known as the To-eemite valley, with its
branches or spurs, in estimated length fifteen
miles, and in average width one mile back
from the main edge of the precipice, on each
ride of the valley, with the stipulation, never.
theless, that the said Stale shall accept this
grant upon the express condition that the
premises shall be hold for public use, resort,
and recreation; shall be inalienable for all
time; but leases not exceeding ten years may
be granted for portions of said premises. All
incomes derived from leases of privileges to
be expended in the preservation and improve
ment of the property, or the roads leadit g
thereto; the boundaries to be established at
the cost of said State by the United States
surveyor general of California, whose effidal
plat, weten affirmed by the Commissioner of
the General Land Office, shall constitute the
evidence of the locus, extent, and limits of
the raid cleft or gorge: the premises to be
managed by the governor of the State with
eight other commissioners, to be appointed by
the executive of CAlfernia, end who shall re
ceive no compensation for their services.
