Be it enacted by the Senate and Rouse of
Representatives of the United States of Amer
ica in Cowen assembled, That the- Bee •
?entry of War be and he is hereby author
, iced to enlist., out of anyl volunteer forces
in the army of the Cumberland that have
served, or are serving, as pioneers, ponton
leis, or engineers, to serve wherever re
quired for three years, or during the war,
to consist of ten companies, and to have the
came organization, pay, and emoluments
as are allowed to engineer soldiers under
the proviiions of the fourth section of an
act entitled "An act providing for the bet
ter organization of the military establieh
meet," approved August third, eighteen
hundred and eixty-one.
Sea. 2, And be it further enacted, That
the officers of the engineers authorised to
be raised under the provisions of the fore
going section shall be appointed and com
missioned by the President of the. United
States, on the recommendation of the com
mander of the army of the Cumberland, and
shall receive the same pay and allowances
as engineer of f icers of similar, grade in the
regular army.

to be paid out of any money in the DOte•
ury not otherwise appropriated, for the

hundred and minty-five:
For pay of commission, warrant and pet
ty officers and seamen, including the engi
neer oorpe of the navy, nineteen million
four hundred and twenty-three thousand
two hundred and forty•one dollars.
For repair and maintenanoo of vessels of
the navy, labor, materials, and stores,
eleven millions five hundred thousand dol
lars.
For the completion of sixteen fast steam
sorer sloops of war, seven millions two
handred thousand dollars.
For the purchase, oonatruction, and re
pairs of ressele, materials, and labor, for
the Western V liters, four millions of dol
lars.
For the purchase and charter of vessels
for naval and blockading wpm% three
millions of dollars.
For extra labor, expense of repairs, and
so forth, on foreign stations, six hundred
thousand dollars.
For payment of Ulna months bounty to
seamen and ordinary seamen, under the
joint resolution of February twenty-fourth,
eighteen hundred and sixty-four, fire hun

Far the completion of armored plated
easels, three million six hundred thousand

For the purchase of hemp and other ma

hending deserters; pilotage and towage of
