brief ettaimary exhibits what Pennsylvania

The first levy of men was twenty-Bre In

numbering 214979 min. This was followed,

numbering 4,711 officers and men.
Thirteen regiments of infantry, one fif CAT

men, were raised ender the sat of May 15,
1861.
Under the act of Congress, Ju1y'22,1861,
and upon direct rcquisitlbne of the President,
- seventy-three regiments, including two of'sfr

They numbered 89,048 men.
Linder the call of,July 7, 1862, fort y -three
regimenta were organised, including eighteen

Daring the year 4,418 recruits were forward
ed to regiment in the field. All of the other
troops lateetrin the State ware for short terms,
and were raised in the two Efiliurry Depart
mans into which the State was divided.

In the Department of the'Motengaiiels, five
regional ninety 'days' militia; one, neat -
t tithed company of eavalry, (Ditites); and one
~ of artillery, (Snap's) numbarkik "2,250 men.
Thin were also organized for United Stites
service, six month; one batallien, one corn.

In the Deptrtment of the Susquehanna
there were organized twenty-three regiments,
