EDITOIS G*7ICITE: The article in your ta per of yesterday, In relation to the notion of the President. of colleges of this State, con cerning the land granted by congms, may mislead many of your readers. I have been informed that there are tome twenty colleges in the State, only seven of which were rep resented at that meeting, and only four of these voted for any of the resolutions passed except the first To the first no one could object. It Is irliered that a division of that land among an, -or nearly all, the colleges, some of which are within a few rods of each *other, would be contrary to the Intent of the act of Congress, and could not pass either branch of our Legislature. Colleges that now 'barely lire, could not, by lire addition to their Income of one or even two thousand dollars, establish mob a department as is contemplated in the act donating the land to this State.
