human PRA= CROP IN MICIIIOAN.-
The yield of fruit this season in Michigan
will be the largest ever known. In 1861
the peach crop Yielded about 60,000 bas
kets; last year, owing to the severe frost in
May, it reached only about 50,000 baskets;
from the estimates given, by the most ex.
to:naive fruit growers, the peach crop this
year will amount to 300,000 baskets, pro.
duced prinelinlly upon the eastern shore
of Lake Michigan in the vicinity of the
St Joseph river. The beat" orchards are
within two or three miles of the lake, and
it is owing principally to the moist lake
winds that heavy frosts are kept away,
rendering a total failure of the fruit crop
of rare occurrence. Otte man, Mr. George:
Paruslee, has 9,000 trees about two miles
from Brownson's Harter, directly on the
lake shore, elevated about 150 feet above
the water, and has not failed -for sixteen
years to make a good crop.

constantly depreciating." "It is difficult
to make a pnrchnoo, however ratan," the

sells you a horse for six or eight hundred
dollars, down to the shop-keeper who sells
yeti an almanac for twenty-five cents, all
pile on an enormous price, and by way of
apology, give the currency a kick."
Bat what do the rebels propciso to do
about ?
A SIGs or ens Truss.—We hare reliable
information from the Shenandoah Valley
(of Virginia) to tho effect that the leading
rebels of thet quarteinre now transferring
their property to men of straw, who mate'

der the pretence of calm of the property to

made at this.lato day, will require to bp
backed by strong proof of actual - payment
of fair Take for 'the property to pus the
scrutiny of the t oTerninent's law officers,
few of them, will turn out to be worth a
pinch of snuff— Wash. mar.
Homuts Wastustorms.—A Washington
letter writer says the demand for places to
live in Washington is treble the supply st
raitly, and when Congress meets it will be
as d 1 cult to accommodate all tho people
as it used to be on inauguration days.
Such a thing as a 'scut house la un

ment. Only the rich can keep house.

A Split in she Copperhead Party.
The famous corresponeence eetween Gem

guested, and his Mends are now to be
found only among those whom he so plain
desiliA-Sted, in his childish and sympa

daring lite riots. Ia fact the Seymour-
Wood party is now dismembered; the re
spectable wing having severed itself when
the mob, pattel on the back by his Excel-
bray; stood forth as the exponent of his I
principles. To-day were Horatio Seymour
a candidate_ for re-election, he would not
poll a tithe of the respectable -votes which
hie sophistical assurances secured before.
Men, now that the enthasiam of party spir
it has cooled, are enabled to observe and
appreciate the °tweeter of the men for
whom they threw up their hats in the beat
of the canvass, and it Is vary certain that
unless he is able to patch up his reputation
-by some act of ostensible decency, some
hair-brairoid, unwilling performance; sa
voring of loyalty to the cause of the %don,
- he is politically dead, buried, and out of
remembrance. This Is one of the political
suicides there all Lennine men are enthu

upon him the necessity of promptitude in
the performance of hie functions.—N. Y.

- The frost on Saturday andl3nnday eighth
was the severest known in' this part for
many yule, and the damage tor theerrops
is almost incalculable. . The frost of Sat
urday night was what was termed a white
frost, while that of Sudsy is called by
those who have suffered from its effaots, a
black frost. Tobaooo has suffered immense
-Iy, while those of our farmers who were
experimenting in the cultivation of cotton,
hate lost their entire year's work. We
wereshown an ear of corn yesterday by
Squire Van, of Knight township, which
was frozen and ruined. Es informs us
that all through his fields spots are dis
cernable where the corn is ruined. We
heard of one lot of fifteen acres in Ken
tucky, which was totally destroyed. The
fodder la ruined. Some of the garden in
the vicinity of oar city hate also suffered
terribly, the vegetables being rendered en
tirely unfit for use. Thousands of dollars
hive beenlpst to the farmers by this pro.
