situated on the left bank of the Tennessee
river, and is the northern terminus of the
Western and Atlantis railway, the southern

and Chattanooga Railroad, and forms the an
gular connection with the tinsel railroad from
Charleston, G. C, to Memphis, Tenn. It is

The city is situated on a high bind over
looking the rushing waters of the Tennessee
rider, which at this point spreads out to •
