LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
From Yesterday's Evening Gazette.
Verdict.
Coroner McClung this morning held an in
quit on the body of William Bodin, who
was inn over yesterday by the ears, near the
Psnlaylvania railioadpassenger - depot. Pin
witnesses were sworn and examined. The
most Important testimo%y was that of had) ,
Delany, brakeimax. He testified that he was
02 the hind part of the care which were being
banked into the metal yard. When within
about three feet of Bodin, be saw him sitting
on the track with his back against the wheels
of one of three empty trucks which had been
left standhig on the track. His facie was
to
wards the approaching train. Maui
thought Dollen wu asleep. He called two er
three timed to Bodes to get np, and alio sig.
:laid to stop the train. But as the wan wed
going sound a curve, along - which wed a M-
E. house, his signal was not seen at first.
The train kept backing, and pushed against
the empty cars, at the ism, time, passing over
the man's legs. Thetrain having shiest been
stopped the injured man was taken to a near
office where-physidans came to hit relief.
Mr. Bodon died at his home last evening
about four o'clock. The verdiet'this morning
'was that the deceased was "aeoldentsdly run
over by the Pennsylvania railroad ears, in the
metal yard of the aforesaid read en, the 80th
of Jul*, 1863." No blame whatever Ie at
tached to the employees of the reilro,d com-
Ploy.
The New Cattle Yard
The grounds lately purchased by Ike Tenn
. .
sylvan's. ReMood Company, for the purpose
facilitating the shipment of lire stook. over
the read, are now receiving the necessary im
prorements. The grounds are looate4 on the
south side of the track, and extend frem a
point near Bast Liberty to Tartans station,
distance of perhaps a mile. Large quantities
al lumber hays bean plied on the premises,
and the work of erecting the fences, platforms,
buildings, etc., has already been 'commenced.
Two side-tracks are now being laid between.
Ewa Liberty and Terrains, and the accommo
dations for stock, and the hell the for ship
ping, will be of the most extern ire and ample
character. The removal of the cattle yards
from the Ninth ward of this city wilt be a
great relief to the public, and emitter of profit
to the company. The badness' of shipping
otolk has grown so large that the instant fa
cilities are entirely inadequate. We ore un
able to may when the old yards will be aban
doned, bat the time is not far distant.
