Hato. Om Purser A. Gamma; whe
is in command of our forces operating
against Charleston,is a nativeof Ohio, sod
was appointed from that State to the Mili
tary Academy at West Point, from which
he graduated in 1849. He was Fint Lieu
tenant of Engineers when the war broke
out. Under hie command, Fort Pulaski,
near Sayanneh, Ga., was captured, o+er a
year age. He was afterwards transferred
to Kentucky, where be whipped the rebels
under Pegram several times, capturing
many prisoners. He was taken out of
Kentucky, when he was assigned to the
command in South Carolina, relieving Oen.

A. Green, Gov. Seymour!' new brigadier
and military counselor, is indignant at Pem

from the charge of a 'weak and premature,
and as yet unnicassary surrender.'"
